Is John pregnant with eggs, or is this infection?

Today Avery suddenly died without any apparent cause. I suspect there was a latent infection. John's belly is swelling for the past three days. Yesterday, a male fish was chasing John, so I suspect it could be eggs, though. But I need to be sure, because John is so small. How can he reach sexual maturity? If you think it's some infection, I'll start medicated fish food immediately.

The other fish you see in this video - his belly is also swelling. The male fish was chasing him too!

Please advise what I should do now.

Please see the video.

Hope he is OK.

He still is, by God's grace. I just checked on him.

I don't know.  Is the belly soft?

I didn't touch him. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow. Thank you, hun!

Any unusual behavior?  Not eating?  Bottom sitting?

Not really. He ate last evening.

Maybe John is a "Johanna" and this is just breeding behavior  :ehh

She looks healthy in the video :)

Really? :) That's cool! Hehehe! :D I was just worried as Avery died without any apparent reason.

Shall keep you updated.

John is not a John. :teehee

The fins look very rounded and thin, even through her excited flailing. What a ridiculously cute little dance.

I'm sorry for the loss of your Avery. :hug

This little fish, John, or like Jared suggested, Johanna, is trying to get your attention it seems. :)  Very cute and I love the black tips on tail. Wiggle, Wiggle.

(by the way Johanna is a great name to rename)
