Regular Member EvilVegan Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 Hey all, I bought a bundle of plants from an ebay seller and I did my bleach dip (2 minutes, 1 : 20 bleach). Everything is fine except the anacharis has turned ghostly. Should I just pull it out or give it a chance to recover? This isn't the first time I've had trouble sanitizing anacharis...

Regular Member LisaCGold Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) I would pull it out. I've had anacharis melt on me soon after a bleach dip. If I were to try them again, I would disinfect using potassium permanganate. Edited February 6, 2015 by LisaCGold
Regular Member Chai Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 Mine died just like that. I decided on only using PP or quarantine with delicate plants.
Regular Member 4prettyfish Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 I hated bleaching anacharis in the past for it turned white sometimes. I don't buy it too often but when I do I don't use bleach anymore. I'd qt them for a couple of days and/or rinse and rinse for my betta in the past.
Regular Member Georgia Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 Same thing happened with me. Anacharis is notorious for being sensitive to bleach dips. Mine turned into mush afterwards and I unfortunately had to throw it away. You could try separating it into a bucket to let it recover, although it may or may not be able to bounce back.
Regular Member yafashelli Posted February 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2015 Anacharis is one of those plants that should never be bleached, unfortunately.
