Jes 122 Posted January 5, 2015 Hey, I am pretty sure my tri butterfly is female. A couple of the other butterflies are chasing her around the tank. I have not seen any breeding stars on these fish but looking at their vents i think they might be male. Its been going on for 2 days now. Do you think its spawning behaivour or bullying? I only put all the butterflies together on saturday. I have added a mop just incase. Let me no what you think. Thanks guys http://vid48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/jesbaxter1/IMG_0627_zpsrygjm7oi.mp4

GoldenSpoiledRotten 6,786 Posted January 5, 2015 Spawning. They are going exclusively for the butt/belly area.
Cdionne77 862 Posted January 5, 2015 In would think spawning. My male always went right for the tail fin area every time, and it was constant.

I observed female to female chasing last week just to hunting the eggs. My past experience with males without stars showed no sperm. Its looks like lazy spawning behavior.
