I'm always questioning myself about if I'm doing things right or not :P Most of them still seem quite small.

Here is the biggest one

And the Smallest one

And this one is about the average size of them

I'm getting an extra tub this week to give them more space, and am getting stricter on the culling

Many factors with growth rate.

* temp

* food (what type, how much and how often)

* tank space

* water depth to a degree

* and genetics.

Ive had heaps of different spawns now and some fish grow very rapidly others do not.

I tend to flick the large fry into a tank together and the medium ones in another etc etc.

Allows me to feed the appropriate types/size food etc to the fry.

so in one tank i may have 3 week old fry with 2 month old fry etc ???

I just keep bouncing them from tank to tank etc to give them equal chance of survival.

Only just saw this! I've had too many in the same space, most of them are in the pond now and are already growing a lot more. I took a risk putting them out there I think, I wasn't sure if they would be able to handle it yet, since they were still so small, but they are looking so much better than they did in their tubs :D If I ever decide to raise fry again I wont save near as many eggs, I've learned my lesson there, but I'm hoping if I do raise fry again I get my oranda as the father. I've done a lot of things wrong with these guys, I'm surprised that so many survived! It's been a great experience though and I do hope that one day in the future I can try it again with a smaller number of fry and look for better quality fish.

ANYWAY I came here to post these, my keepers! I'll be splitting them up as soon as I can as well (we are getting the loungeroom carpet replaced so I have limited space right now) Once the other fry are all gone these will be going to the pond to live :D  One of them looks weird but he just seems so sweet and seems to get along well so just seeing how he goes. Did a lot of culling before putting the others in the pond though and have culled ones that I had chosen to keep originally :( They all need names :teehee
