Aneta 101 Posted September 1, 2014 Hi Guys! I'm panicking here a bit because my fish spawned today and I'm not sure what to do as I'm not prepared for that. I always wanted them to breed but not today! So, what I did, as soon as I spotted eggs I scooped as many as I possibly could out and put them in a small container that is floating on the surface in the same tank. I don't have any spare small tanks to put them in there so I guess if they hatch I will try to raise them in the main tank trying to separate them from parents. I have read many posts in breeding section but still it is so difficult to manage Parents - He was after her all day and it still continues. Eggs - there are many more than the ones visible on this picture. And the floating container.
SweetMamaKaty 2,788 Posted September 1, 2014 Congratulations, how exciting! I'm no help with eggs since I found mine as hatched fry, but I'd get some baby brine shrimp eggs ordered right away if I were you, so that you'll be ready when they hatch.

SweetMamaKaty 2,788 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Here's a good tutorial. It's really not too scary when you've done it. Edited September 1, 2014 by SweetMamaKaty
GoldenSpoiledRotten 6,786 Posted September 1, 2014 I see a lot of fuzzy eggs in there already. Pick those out as soon as possible so that you don't contaminate the fertilized ones.

Aneta 101 Posted September 4, 2014 It looks like I miscounted. There are 40-50 or even more fry. I think many eggs were hidden in the plants yuppie!

*Amanda* 556 Posted September 7, 2014 That's awesome, Aneta. Congratulations! I've heard great things about the Liquidfry. This product was recommended to me online a long time ago by an aquarist named Neale Monks, but I've never been able to find it. I think it may only be sold in the UK, since he's from there. The only fry food I've seen in shops here is First Bites, which is a dry powder that my fry didn't do very well with (their growth was very slow). It seems like liquid food or live BBS would be better. When I get fry next time (here's hoping! ), I'm going to try to make BBS again. That didn't work out too well last time, but I've been researching it and have a plan!

I do mixed diet which is Liquidfry and BBS and so far so good. No dead fry yet
