Hi Lis!

Your tank is on point.

I am here asking for advice from you because your obviously doing something right!!!

I have a planted 75 gallon that is fully cycled and 2 fish will be arriving this week. Super excited!!

There is a very small amount of dirt on the bottom and about 1 1/2 to 2 inches total of caribsea Eco complete substrate.

I have read through this thread - however it is very long :)

Do you mind sharing your water change schedule - and also how do you keep everything clean??!!? I would love to hear your methods... As I will have a lot of cleaning to do shortly when the fish arrive.

I'm sure your vacuuming gravel often... - do you stir up all your substrate?? I'm scared my plants will up root with a good cleaning... I also don't want to stir up the dirt under the gravel.

I have Malaysian trumpet snails to help with keeping substrate healthy.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Your tank is inspiring!

Cheers!

Lindsey

Lis, Your tank is looking beautiful! And so are your fishies!

In the last picture, on the substrate in the foreground, is that the remnants of marimo moss?

Love the side view Alicia.  I forget how wide your tank is.  As usual, everything is just spectacular.

Hi Lindsey :)

Congrats on the new fish! :D

I change 95% of the water every 5 days. I clean both of my canisters with every water change (heavily planted tank = lots of debris in my canisters!). I never have a cycle bump, but I'm not sure I'd recommend cleaning filters as often as I do, unless it's a well established tank and you do find a lot of debris in them :)

I don't actually clean anything haha. I vacuum any poop off the bottom, lift the pieces of wood from time to time to get anything that may have been trapped, but is never get any algae so I don't actually clean anything inside the tank. I used to get a bit of algae, but raising my lights sorted that :)

I don't vacuum the sub rate like you would with gravel, I just syphon any debris off the surface of the sand. I don't stir up the sand, because the fish do a pretty good job of that as it is :)

I hope this is helpful, if you have any more questions, I'll try to get back to you sooner next time! :)

Thanks Lisa! Haha, yes it is :rofl I can forgive them for that, they leave everything else alone. I'm tempted to buy them another couple when the last one has been totally annihilated, they must enjoy it :rofl

Thanks Cheryl! :)

You have a fantastic set up there.

Where do your source your fish from? I find it hard to source very good quality fish.

Do your fish swim through the plants or do they tend to stay away from them?

I got some of these from a couple of lfs, and some from the Japanese Koi Company. Their fish were best a couple of years ago, but they still get good ones every so often. I have 5 from there, and I'm very happy with them :)

They swim around the back of the plants, but they don't often bulldoze their way through them (which I'm very grateful for :rofl )
