Lis. 4,167 Posted October 25, 2014 That pic is so perfect! Thanks Mel! I don't see him all that often, so I figured I'd get a shot while I had the chance haha I have got to get me a new lily so mine can look like yours. Great tank. It's actually quite a few plants, but they're close together so it looks like one
4prettyfish 2,702 Posted October 25, 2014 Love the photo above. We can see some of the 24 inches width. Are your fish enjoying the back of the tank also? (swimming and exploring) Just gorgeous. All your plants look so green and lush. Your not having any kind of algae problem? Some of them swim through the back every so often, but most of the time they're at the front every so often I'll count and there'll be one or two missing, and then I'll spot them hidden in the plants haha. The other week I was seeing a slight brown covering on some of my plants, but that's gone now and everything still looks very green I think I'm losing one of my plants, the leaves don't look great, but I'll just replace it with something else if and when it goes the only issue I am having right now is keeping my hygrophila trimmings in the substrate they'll just keep floating up until they root, it's quite frustrating really That's neat that they are utilizing the whole tank with their swimming. (Even if it's just one or two fish your trying find. Sounds like your doing awesome with your plants Alicia with no huge problem.

ShawneeRiver 2,720 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) It's fabulous. I wish I had used dirt under my sand! You are getting amazing growth! Edited October 31, 2014 by ShawneeRiver
Lis. 4,167 Posted October 31, 2014 It's fabulous. I wish I had used dirt under my sand! You are getting amazing growth! I actually didn't use dirt in the end I had initially planned to, but the day before I was due to start the tank up, I visited a great aquascaping specialist shop called The Green Machine, and a guy there persuaded me to use a plant substrate rather than dirt. I used tropica plant growth substrate, and I have been having great results

Lis. 4,167 Posted November 3, 2014 It seems my aponogeton is getting ready to flower! I wasn't aware they flowered until I notice the tip sticking out of the water. I first thought the goldfish were eating these, as every so often I'd find bits of the leaves floating on the surface. But over the last few days I've noticed an explosion of growth from them, the leaves are huge and now I noticed this. Very exciting
