Lis's 180g dirted goldfish tank!

Recommended Posts

So, my 180g tank has FINALLY arrived! It must have been around 4 months since I placed the order :o but it's finally here. It arrived last night, but there was an issue with the floor, so the tank sat on the floor over night. Today, two of the guys from work very kindly came over and put the tank on the stand for me :)

As some of you may know, I've decided to dirt this tank :) I've practiced on a smaller than, so I think I'm ready for it!

This is my plant list;

anubias (varieties)

Java fern (varieties)

Vallisneria spiralis

Cardamine lyrata

Rotala rotundifolia

Hygrophila rosanervig

Echinodorus panicilatis (amazon sword)

Echinodorus Paul Kloecker

Echinodorus green flame

Aponogeton ulvaceus

Barclaya longifolia

Nymphaea lotus - red

Nymphaea lotus - green

Sagittaria subulata

Cryptocoryne wendtii tropica

I'm unsure how some of these will fare with those hungry goldfish mouths, but we will see.

The tank is going to sit empty for a week, as I'm going away next week. Hopefully I can get everything I need for Saturday, and then the fun can begin!

OOh, very cool! I like how you have done a dirted tank on a smaller scale. I have no doubt this one will be quite lovely.

I really can't imagine the size of something without a reference. How big are those floor tiles?

I know what you mean, I'm the same haha. The tiles are 17" x 17", and the tank itself is 6x2x2 :)

I took a picture of a 500ml bottle of seachem prime on the top of it for comparison, but didn't think to take a photo from the front :doh11:

That's so funny. I looked at the first picture and all I could see was a medium sized tank in a room with 6" square floor tiles, even though I knew that wasn't true. As soon as I saw the door, the tank got 3 times as large and so did the tiles.
