Go for 3. Hopefully that will bring your KH up to 6 drops. :D

I added 3 tsp before I left for work, around 11:30am.

This was the results around midnight:

It took 6 drops to turn the kh yellow! :nana

Soooo, tomorrow, I test the kh again, do I check the ph also?

Do I just check parameters every day for awhile? Next wc is due Thursday.

I would test ammonia, pH and KH again tomorrow. Then test all of those plus nitrates Thursday before you do a WC just to see where things are. :)

Do we finally have things figured out? Now it's time to add Chiclet? :o

:rofl

:yikes We can add Chicklet?!

By the Chiclet is the right spelling, but it looks wrong. What can I say, I'm a rebel! :lol2

We can add whatever you want to call your new fish anytime. If you want to give it another week or two to establish a bit more, we can do that too.

I'm easy. :o

The names are pronounced the same either way, I just liked that you were spelling it the right way. ;)

I'd like to add her Friday since I have off.

Easy, eh? 415605155.gif

Ammonia is 0-.25, looks tinged with green, but looking into the tube is yellow. Ph is at 8.0 as far as I could tell and Kh takes 6 drops. :thumb:

Water change tomorrow. I usually do 75-80%, should I go for 50% again instead?

Why? :idont

Why the wc or why 50%?

wc, because tomorrow will be a week since my last wc.

Last time, you had me do a 50% wc and specifically said "no more than 50%". I think because the ph from the tap was drastically different from the ph in the tank?

Why only 50% . . . .

Remind me of your tap and newly improved tank pH. :rofl3

Tap is usually 7.4-7.6 But it was 8. last time I checked.

At the time we started adding baking soda the tank was 6. :yikes But, in the past when I tested it it was always 7.4-7.6

So far, the tank has stayed at 8 since adding bs.

What are you adding to your tank? :yikes

:rofl

If your tap and tank are both 8, you can do 100% WC if you'd like. :D I would test them before you do the WC. As long as they are within 0.5 you can change as much as you'd like. :nana

Just don't forget the bs. :tomuch:

The tap isn't usually 8 though. It's normally 7.4

I will def test both in the morning. ;)

Ph this morning:

kh out of tap was one drop and out of tank 5 drops.

Ammonia 0-.25

Nitrates look to be 40? :(

Can I still do an 80%wc or should I just do a 50%wc? Is the ph close enough?

You can do 75-80%. :)

Ok, good!

When adding the baking soda, add 4 tsp instead of 6, right?

Sure. Start with 4 tsp. you may need to add one more. Check the pH 12-24 hours after the WC. :)

The kh took 4-5 drops this morning. At 4 drops, it turned greenish yellow, at 5 just yellow.

I also tested Chicklet's and hers did the same at 3-4 drops.

Both Ph's look to be 8

This morning Ammonia was .25 and nitrates were 20

Roughly the same in Chicklet's tank.

I added another tsp bs to Gumdrop's tank.

Would it still be ok to add Chicklet to Gumdrop & PB's tank today?
