Dwarf Puffer setup questions

What did you decide?

LFS didn't get them in this week I have to wait for Friday!

I'm actually now thinking about just getting one for a 5 gallon, that way I don't need to worry about sexing/aggression etc....but I'll make the final decision when I see them

I got some plants yesterday for this tank, but as I started to add the rocks my idea of what I wanted to do totally changed, so i need to order some different plants

Initially DPs tend to be shy and cautious. You will probably notice him swimming around with his tail "clamped" into a point and kind of curl his tail into a U shape. This is normal until the fish adjusts, no need to worry about him doing that, it will go away when he has adjusted to his new home. Afterwards you will usually only see him do it when he is interested in some object etc and examines it.

I can't wait to see pics of him or her!

Thank you! I was googling dwarf puffer c shape last night bc that's what it looked like! Kind of freaked me out. And I had totally forgotten to start a heater in the tank before I plopped him in so the temp was probably not to his liking.

Oh stop your tanks are beautiful! I love the setup in your goldfish tank. I think practice makes perfect in aquascaping. When I look back at pics of my first try I laugh and am totally stunned that it looked good to me st the time...I assume this will happen with all my tanks at some point

What a coincidence ! I haven't been on in months but got on to research how to get rid of cyanobacteria and saw this.

I decided last week to get a dwarf puffer but of course now they aren't at any of the stores.....

i'll be following this to see how your baby does !!

I read they "pick" their sex as they grow. If one of several starts producing the male hormone the others will be female.

I'm in the process of setting up a dwarf puffer tank and came across your post on one of the forums I actually got pretty excited knowing how amazing you are with fish and plants. And photos! It looks like everything turned out great. Will there be any more updates?
