Oranda wen question

Recommended Posts

I noticed that Chewie has this reddish mark on his wen and I was just wondering if anyone knew what it could be from. He isn't acting weird or anything I just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything serious. I tried getting the best pictures I could.

Are those white spots on his tail and anal fins? Or are they bubbles from an airstone/filter current? :hmm

It looks like an irritation for sure, but I'll wait for somebody more experienced in wens to chime in with what it could be. When did you notice it?

Just today?

It's just from the airstone. I just put him back in the tank when I took the two first pictures. I originally noticed it yesterday, but it was a pinkish/ whitish color.

I concur.

These spots can occur on fish with big wen often, and most of the time, they will go away on their own. :)

Keep on eye on it. If it starts to open up (ulcerate) let us know.
