Ok, back with some happy progress reports on this saltwater tank!

The salinity is officially saltwater at 1.020! I have now successfully acclimated 3 pink snails (i forget their name) and they seem to be doing well!

The trick to properly acclimating is a VERY slow drip method of 2-3 drips a second for 4 hours! Yes, takes a while, but they are alive and healthy so WHOOO!

We now have a fish!

We have a Six Lined Wrasse. It took an hour and a half to acclimate him because the stores salinity is incredibly high.

As soon as he comes out of hiding, I'll catch some pictures.

So, next week I will be adding my live rock. You generally want 1 to 2 pounds per gallon. I am going to be adding 25 pounds to my 20 gallons.

This will add more bacteria than the filter alone can provide as well as hiding spots for the Wrasse and a surface for the snails to climb over because they can't go over sand very well. This will also, or should, cause a mini cycle to happen but I have aged saltwater ready to go. This way I can do a small water change to help balance out the mini cycle.

Aged saltwater is good and almost needed because it needs to oxygenate. Usually this is done in a container, size depending on how much saltwater you need, and left to sit for a day or so.

Hopefully all goes well next week.

So, we got our 3rd and final fish!

It's a Purple Firefish Goby!

We added more rock to make a cave for him, but he ended up kicking the Wrasse out of his!

Hopefully I'll get some pics soon!

Ok, this is our Purple Firefish Goby while still in the store. We don't have a name for him (assuming it's a him) yet.

It may not look like much, but here is what we have so far. Getting a small protein skimmer really helped with the tank. Thinking i need a background for the tank.
