It's my turn :)

Recommended Posts

Went back to the farm store to check out that 110 gal tuff stuff stock tank. They didn't have that size in stock but had everything else. Decided to stick with the rubbermaid 70 gal. The rubbermaid quality is much better and I would like it to last a long time.

So it's now back out on the deck. I wanted to see if my deck chairs fit nicely. I can already see myself spending my afternoons and evenings out there with my fish as much as possible :) pay no attention to the dirt and bird poo on the chairs :)

Oh we're gonna look good sitting next to that! It will make us look smaller, Molly, since it's bigger! :rockon

The size and shape looks spectacular. I'm glad you went with that one. :teehee

I'm glad you got the 110. Looks good. That will be something like 920 pounds so I would make sure the deck is up to it. Probably is but ya never know. If it was at ground level I would not worry much but it seems to be high up. One thing to ask yourself is which way do you want to face the bottom drain before filling? Forward for ease of access or backwards for a cleaner look?

By the way just go to YouTube and type in "deck collapse" if you have the time and desire.

I will double check with the builder that did out deck addition a couple years ago. The original supports were not up to code. You could rock the deck. Steve replaced the original support beams and added extra. The pond is currently sitting right on top of one of the supports :)

I do have the option of putting it on the lower level of the deck but I don't know if I'll like it as much down there.

There is a lot more swimming room :)
I'll be sure to have plenty of margarita mix when you come :D

I like it. It fits into the space very well.

For my first filter, I used this flowerpot from IKEA. It's about 9 gallons, which is a good size for your tank. I did some dumb things when I made it and it's been remodeled a few times, but it's still working fine four years later. Here's a picture of it with a disreputable stock tank. I don't remember why I had it so high.

Here's a simple, effective cover for a stock tank.

The frame is 1x3s. The top is plastic hardware cloth stapled to the frame.
