Aeromonas alley is a temperature range that is hypothesized to increase the risk of Aeromonas infection. All of the research I have found on the relationship between temperature and Aeromonas infection indicates the bug becomes more dangerous at higher temperature, as is shown in the graph on page 13 here. A goldfish study showed 25C was the temperature at which mortality from Aeromonas resulted in the most deaths.

However, Aeromonas alley will live forever on the internet.

Spent the last hour and a half reading pond building threads..lead me back to here :o

Did I read correctly that you throw some media from the tank into the pond...or is it in the pond filter?

Also, can someone recommend a good bio media to use in the filter that Sharron has made in this thread: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/98620-upgrading-the-instant-pond/

Go to post #17 in that thread, where I listed some of the things I use for biomedia. I still really like the pvc ribbon. Another thing I've been trying out is clay pebbles, which are widely used in hydroponics systems. Here are some brands:

Does this company have a store near you? http://www.tscstores.com/Stock-Tanks-C965.aspx

There is one about an hour and a half away, but they don't carry pond tubs for some reason according to the website.

...weird.

I will have to poke around.

I just searched for farm supply stores to find that one. There have to be more.

Were you asking about "pond tubs" rather than stock tanks?

Usually if the company website lists a product the local store can order it.

What part of Ontario are you in? It's a big province. Are you near the US border?

I looked in their animal section of the website.

Maybe I should call them.

I live in Toronto, and this chain is located in London, Ontario.

Not that close.

Maybe I am better off looking up farm supply stores.

In your experience dealing with these type of stores, is it best to ask if the carry pond tubs or stock tanks?

...seems like when I ask, the sales person say 'a what?".

Google. I typed in "Ontario farm supplies", then switched to "Toronto farm supplies." Once I got a web site, I did a search for stock tanks.

I assume you are talking about the pump, and that should work. It's more than you need. I always recommend the Harbor Freight 264 gph, because I know it works perfectly with a 40-100 gallon stock tank and a 5 gallon bucket filter.
