I'm still concerned about Fire Marshall Stanley.

He's such a dear he just lets me scoop him up, mainly to inspect/photograph him and weigh him (29 grams, he's gained 4 grams in a month!)  - since he had stringy poo not long ago. His poo is FINE now, after antibiotics and I don't want to over-analyze the situation.

I'm concerned that he's the only Ryukin that is turning black.  Here is a photo from today.

I bought some Melefix today just to be safe 'cause his fins look like they might have fin rot.

I have a quarantine tank at the ready, but don't want to stress him out.

"Mom, did I do something bad?"

Here's my good side, stop worrying.

Based on this series of photos, I'm thinking that the first one does not include all of his tail because the lighting in the photo is too pale!

In the 3rd photo, his tail is all there, so perhaps the first photo makes it LOOK like fin rot, but the 3rd photo confirms that he's fine.

I sort of feel better, and don't want to waste the Moderators time on a long holiday weekend.

Maybe he once HAD fin rot and it is healing?

sigh.

TANKS EVERYONE!

I missed Gywn so much when the heron got him. I was really hoping that the new Ryukins would provide that essential Fantail/Ryukin je ne sais pas

(read: Friendliness) that my pond was lacking after his untimely demise.

He does that thing that Gywn used to do, which was basically to recognize me and be happy to see me in such an enormous way that it makes me smile.

Fire Marshall Stanley is running for Mayor of Fishlandia and so far he's got my vote.

Your garden is always so stunning. Makes me want to ask in-laws let me resurrect their old fish pond (that currently doesn't have fisk, luckily, as they'd have no idea how to care for them).

Everything is getting brown where I live.

Very beautiful pond and your fire Marshall fish is also just as lovely. I'm sure as you learned by now that it isn't rot but just a bit of melanophores migration from the antibiotics and possibly because it is a juvenile fish and the colour hasn't set yet. :)

Sadly, Stanley passed.

His mouth was stuck open when he died - Mike thinks it might have been flukes, or perhaps swallowing something too large.

I was very saddened by his passing.

Goldie Hawn had no trouble adusting to her favorite spot being moved and expanded.

This 16 inch (40.64 cm) clear acrylic globe  with a 6 inch  opening on the bottom was too heavy for me to lift onto its base.

I half filled it, mounted it and then used my a wet vacuum to suck the remaining air out.

I just wish it wouldn't scratch as easily as it does.

How have you attached the dome to the stand?

No attachment needed - the weight of a 16" diameter sphere filled with water is so heavy I can't lift it!

It rests on the stand solidly. Matthew was concerned that the weight might prove to be too heavy for the bin underneath, but it doesn't seem stressed.

Love the viewing dome! I'm going to add some to my pond eventually.

It's fun to think my low-tech invention would inspire someone else. Please share your photos with us if you add any.
