Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted December 28, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2013 Can you do another big WC today? How did they handle the initial 50% change? If they handled that well, let's go for 75-80%. We really need to get the nitrites down as soon as we can. Are you sure there isn't any baking soda in the house? Once we get the pH up, I'd like to keep it up there with baking soda . . .
Regular Member Alexx Posted December 28, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2013 i really cant change the water until tomorrow. My mom would allow it if i change it tomorrow i will probably do a 100% wc or atleast 90%. so far i put the salt in and thats it. and tomorrow i can get baking soda. and with the DPG sale and petco im planning to upgrade to a 55g. so that will be a 100%wc also.
Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted December 28, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2013 Ok can you let us know what the tank pH is before you do a WC tomorrow? If your pH is back below 7 a 90-100% WC might be too much of a pH shift at once.

Regular Member DieselPlower Posted December 28, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2013 Alexx I am glad to hear you are upgrading to a 55 gallon. Your fish will like that and it should help keep your water parameters in an acceptable range for a bit longer. It sounds like you really want to take good care if your fish and that's great. I was wondering what sort of filtration you are currently using and what will you be using in your 55 gallon? Just want to make sure we help you be set up for success with your awesome new tank.

Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted December 30, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted December 30, 2013 Great news!! I would keep a close eye on pH, ammonia and nitrites just to be sure things are stable.
