I am right there with you with the moor pics. I tried to taking a few last night, but the settings weren't right to capture him. The pics were either too dark, or way to overexposed. So, this is actually the reason why I know my settings are not ideal yet. Next time, I will get out supplemental lights as well.

I upgraded to the D7000. My old camera was more than sufficient for fish, but I wanted to be able to really learn and understand photography, and this camera (at least for me) removes all the cheats. So, I really have to learn how to use the camera, or end up with terrible pics.
