Fabric Backgrounds

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I know that many here paint their tanks either black or blue which I think looks awesome :)

I always preferred something with a little depth though, or being able to change it if I chose.

When I set up my new tank earlier this year I thought of using something unconventional. At first I was going to go with an Asian theme and thought of a Chinese printed wall paper. Also thought of fabric. Went to a local fabric store and did find some beautiful Asian prints but found this really cool fabric with colors you could find in water. It even had small silver round things on it similar to bubbles. And even had glitter on it that caught the light. So I decided on this.

Anyway anyone else use fabric or wall paper?

I have used fabric often on my tanks. Go to the scrap piles and you can get some great deals.

Yours looks great.

Thanks. I was worried about it getting wet, but hasn't occurred.

Looks great! :thumb: I'm really tempted to find a background for my tank- I have so much equipment behind and it looks really fugly. :rofl

Fabric is a good idea. You wouldn't really see any creases or wrinkles as you would paper.

Thanks. I mounted mine on foam core board which you could also use with wallpaper to not have creases.

You could also use solid fabric versus prints too.

This is the foam core I used to mount fabric and then taped to back.

Really nice! And that stand is just beautiful.

If I ever set up a tank for my daughter's room, I plan to have lots of crazy awesome backgrounds on it. Either to do it myself, or let her work on it to her liking :)

I love the idea of fabric background honestly I'd probably spend too much time trying to pick one i like. I have black paper under my tank when i moved the tank the paper made this ripple effect it looks like sand it's really cool, i'll try and take a photo.

Your background looks really nice.

I also like what you did to the inside. It all goes well together.
