Does anyone else have trouble with those little leveler things that go on the back bottom of the AC filters? Mine barely stay in and they fall off behind the tank when I pull out the media. :madrant I would just take them out, but my filters work noticeably worse without them because they aren't level (duhhh). Anybody else have a suggestion?

I'm talking about these thingies: http://www.thatpetplace.com/214956.jpg

I have 5 and don't have a problem like that with any they fit tight.. Maybe you can order a new one and it will fit better?

I have 2 AC 110

1 AC 70

1 AC 50

1 AC 30 or 20 cant remember.

It's almost like the peg doesn't fit in the hole. Maybe I just have a couple duds :(

I use a Mr Clean spounge (those white ones) since they are stiff, cut them in half and use it as a brace. They don't compress over time and balance my filters much better. I used to use a wash cloth but they look tacky! Those thing never stay on!

you could fit something around the peg part that goes into the Filter to tighten it up. maybe a thread raped around it or a thin piece of plastic wrap?

I think the problem is that the pegs are too big. They don't seem like they're going in all the way

The sponge is a great idea! I like how it would be invisible and probably wouldn't fall out. Thanks :)

In my 55g it fell out a few times in the beginning. It drove me nuts because then the whole filter wasn't parallel and working properly. I just shoved it in tighter and it hasn't fallen out since.

Sounds like Daniel might have a good idea. Try the teeny tiny piece of plastic wrap. It might tighten it up.

I hope you figure something out soon.

Try twisting and pushing it on in. Maybe you have just not got it in all the way like you said. I remember one of mine was really tight when first putting it in.

I have 7 AC filters and I haven't had a problem with any of my levelers. Are you pushing them up into the holes hard enough?

Ok I went and checked again and the problem is that the peg fits but it's too short and when the filter leans against the tank it pushes the peg out. Maybe I need to make the fit tighter after all..?

I suggest you don't use that at all! Those things make me nervous- I mean they're a small plastic thing trying to hold the weight of 5-10 pounds of an aquaclear 70 or 110. You never know that one day the keg may give out and your heavy filter will crash against your tank, potentially cracking it. :o the simplest and cheapest way is to take 2 paper towels and fold them 4x. Place it on the impeller- it muffles the sound and balances the filter at the same time. ;) the only con to this is it may look a bit ugly on tanks without backgrounds. :s hope this helped!

All of mine have been hard to get it, thats the point of them. Once you get them in they shouldnt ever come out again... try using some kind of lube to get it in there. :)

I have a vinyl background on my tank so I think I will try stuffing something behind the filters to hold them up and muffle them like you said :)

It fits in fine, but the peg is too short and small and gets forced out by the weight of the filter.
