hi everyone =) I'm sure some of you saw my general discussion thread about little Bill's mouth deformity. Bodoba suggested I start a D&D thread for him so here it is =)

  • * Ammonia Level(Tank)0
  • * Nitrite Level(Tank)0
  • * Nitrate level(Tank)0
  • * Ammonia Level(Tap)0
  • * Nitrite Level(Tap)0
  • * Nitrate level(Tap)0
  • * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)7.6
  • * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.0
  • Other Required Info:
    • * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?api drops
    • * Water temperature? 80*
    • * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 30 about 9 months
    • * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? AC50 and hush elite 35
    • * How often do you change the water and how much? once every 5 days 50%
  • * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 5 minutes ago 50%
  • * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2; one common 6 inches; Bill 2 inches
  • * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime
  • * What do you feed your fish and how often? soilent green twice daily
  • * Any new fish added to the tank? no
  • * Any medications added to the tank? no
  • * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. prazi and salt a few months back 5 rounds
  • * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? no.
  • * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? no

Basically what's going on is he has a very limited opening for his mouth and though he can eat it seems stressful for him I'll get pictures soon!

Will try for better pictures later. But as you can see... his mouth is sealed shut on the left and opens only a little on the right. Poor boy.

Espon salt would be the cure! Pearl's mouth collapsed like that, so she was in quarintine with espon salt ! :)

Can anyone confirm that epsom salt can do this? If so I'll be on it like white on rice.

i've never heard that epsom salt will cure this type of symptom. can you link us to the info please?

Please refrain from dispensing treatment advice until you've verified with someone on the mod team.

Epsom, while gentle, can also easily kill a fish. This is true with nearly all treatments. I would like it if we practice restraint in spite of our enthusiasm and eagerness to help.
