80 gallon tank?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. Planning planning. I want one more fancy goldie and I have three now in a 55 gallon. Rules would say that I should go with an 80 gallon setup, but I don't think I've ever actually seen an 80 gallon tank. Would 75 be all right permanently for 4 or would I have to go up as high as 90? For some reason, 90 sounds WAY less doable than 75 to me right now! Thank you!

A 75 is fine. The stocking recommendation is 15-20 gallons per fish, with a minimum of 20 gallons for the first fish. More volume always helps, but according to this calculation, you simply need a minimum of 60 or better. So, a 75 will be fine. :)

Thanks Alex! :D A custom 80 gallon tank was definitely not in the cards! ;)

20 gallons for the first fish and 10-15 gallons for each fish after that. AT LEAST :)

Luckily I think once I get this bigger tank, this will be IT :P 4 is plenty for me to handle. My other, smaller tank (hopefully a 29 or 30 gal) will literally only have plants and shrimp in it. xD

That's probably good for my bank account, too. This hobby is so expensive. I'm going to be saving for...forever for just the stand xD

Yeah, that's why I gave up upgrading my goldfish to a 75 gal.
