hello everyone please could you help me identify this little guy, his name is handsome (my daughter named him lol) anyway i know you cant see from the pics but he is double tailed, but i thought fantails were rounder bodied than this? he looks almost like a double tailed comet to me :idont , any opinion much appreciated

He looks like a classic bodied fantail, to me. The super round bodied chunk-a-lunks, that are popular now, are a fairly new body shape. I have a few fantails that are more this body shape than the super round guys. It was not uncommon to see many fantails shaped like this a few years back.

Congrats on the fish- his name definitely fits him!

The original fantails ("Wakin" in Japanese) are a longer-bodied fish. I've seen some of them marketed as sarassa comet goldfish, with long, long, slender red & white bodies - and sharply doubled tails!

From what I've read, wakin are the most common goldfish in Japan, though when I was there, we only saw koi!
