Aqua world nitrate filter

I can't remember exactly how many water changes I've done using this filter but I've got around 400 litres out of it (including the wasted ones I've had to throw away because of the params).

Nitrates are showing at around 5 now so I need to recharge it today. I've got dishwasher salt which is what it suggested in the leaflet but have just read the ingredients and it has anti caking agents in it.

My questions are:

1- how many litres have people been able to get out if theirs before recharging?

2- is this dishwasher salt ok? (As far as I know we don't have that Morton canning pickling salt here.

3- can I recharge it by hand? I don't have a pump or anything

I use dishwasher salts 1kg in around 2 gallon of warm water

By hand? Im not sure how or what you mean by this..

The valve that came with it doesn't work. Will it siphon to fast.without it?

Also, when it says 2 gals, is that US gallons? I'm confused with the units

Oops, I assumed as it was a uk product that it meant the imperial gallon. I've done it now. Hope it doesn't make too much of a difference
