FishyMandy 6,272 Posted March 9, 2013 Ok, so many of you had tried to teach me how to make something like a Python on my own...But I'm going to be honest - I suck at DIY stuff. I get bored, agitated and tend to take shortcuts and everything falls apart and I throw in the towel. So when my mum offered me $200 to spend on whatever I needed for the fish... I got on Ebay and ordered myself a python. Being in Australia the shipping cost more than the python itself... But I just used it for the first time and it's brilliant! No more messy lugging buckets or getting someone to hold the hose while I run to turn it off. And I don't need to worry about whatever might be lurking in the hose. It did take me a little bit to get the hang of it, I accidentally blocked it up with gravel at one stage But once I got in the swing of things the water change went so so much faster. I think this is one of the most worthwhile investments I've made for my goldies x3 (and it will be a huge help for my axolotl tank too! I had actually being considering rehoming him because I was finding it so hard keeping up with two large tanks, Now, no worries x3)

dnalex 13,633 Posted March 9, 2013 I confess to being extremely poor at DIY myself, so these ready made things are amazing!

Helen 8,511 Posted March 9, 2013 what a feeling eh? that's how i felt when mine got shipped over a few years ago congratulations. be sure to cover the siphon when you are not cleaning, ie, just emptying.. many fish have died or been seriously harmed having been sucked up by accident.
FishyMandy 6,272 Posted March 9, 2013 Know that feeling all too well! One of my old goldfish died in an accident with the regular syphon So will definitely be covering it when only removing water!
fishtankbabe 198 Posted March 9, 2013 The single best investment you can make in this hobby. I've had mine going on 9 years now and it still works just as good as the day I bought it. Worth every penny and then some.

FishyMandy 6,272 Posted March 9, 2013 LOL My mum is terrified of snakes, and wont let me call it a Python...I just call it "the fish tank thing' and she knows what I mean xD (I would love an actual Python though I am Mad)
yafashelli 9,540 Posted March 9, 2013 I'm so happy you got one! I love mine! When i first got it, it took some tinkering to get used to. I ended up spraying the living room with water, at some point. Then, I wasn't paying attention, and I almost over flowed the tank. Lol! It's really funny, sometimes.
