So i know this situation is not ideal, but things have been rough and we haven't been able to establish things as quickly as we had hoped. Within the next month ill be building a bog filter. I have been having algae issues and as with any overstocked tank, params can get out of hand. I can't up my water changes until I can pay the water bill. I'm also waiting on my sister to bring me her tank, her schedule hasn't allowed her to get over here with it.

I noticed strawberry and cream looking bloated and had some raised scales. I've got them separated, and I have a 30 gallon sterilite tub for QT and an extra heater and filter (if I can find a way to run the filter on the tub) I also have epsom and metro powder. I hope this isn't dropsy ):

You can see the redness on the mouth in this pic.

It does look to me that the scales are coming apart, which is not a good sign. :(

I was afraid so ): And to me they are definitely bloated. The other little lionhead from the same batch is much more streamlined where these two are round. I checked everyone else and no lifting scales or bloating.

Do you think ill be needing metro meds?

:( hope they recover quickly

Thank you :hug

I would definitely see if you can get some Metro-Meds on hand. Metro powder works, but MMs are a bit better, I think.

Bah, ok. I won't have any money until next week, so back to the begging. I don't have a scale either. What do you think would be a good baseline?

Charly, I have extra mms. I can give you some, since you live so close. Let me know

Oh that would be so amazing!! Im going to cry :cry

They just had an accident literally 5 minutes ago... They got knocked behind my tank and I almost couldn't reach them.... I thought that they were going to die there :cry I couldn't exactly move 1400 pounds of tank! My boyfriend somehow moved it and I got them back... Oh gosh my nerves are so shot.. these poor guys...

Hey Charly. You say they look bloated but to me, overall, they look pretty thin? I don't see the round bellies they should have.

Is it possible internal parasites are at play?

I'm not sure, if they had them wouldn't it have been obvious a few months ago? I have another lionhead who is the same age and from the same place and he is much more streamline and no raised scales. They've definitely gotten chubbier since I got them, but before it was more even on their bellies. But when I look at them there is a definite roundness. It was more obvious on the orange one rather than the sakura. It was actually odd I thought they had gained weight, but they weren't so round the last time I went through and checked everyone. I noticed it before I even saw the scales, and seeing the roundness actually is the reason I checked the scales.

Do you know of any other symptoms to internal parasites?

Are you trying through YouTube or the PicTub?

Photobucket :o ill try YouTube though, I'm not sure how successful I'll be on my iPad |: ill let you know if it's working (:

Ok, I got it on photobucket. just downloaded the app.... They still look about the same as yesterday. Not any worse, surprisingly.... The Sakura doesn't look as pineconed but his lips are still pretty red...
