enesta 0 Posted January 12, 2013 I have a fish that developed a very weird mouth, looks like only half can open. I've thought he was fine during feedings, but I'm starting to realize he's not getting enough food. I use Hikari pellets right now and I soak them first. Is there a type of food that would be easier for him to eat? He seems to have trouble picking it up and getting it into his mouth. Has trouble seeing it too. Starting to think he may need his own tank.
tithra 4,917 Posted January 12, 2013 Have you tried gel food? Either homemade or the repashy. It might be easier for him to eat since it is soft
Lucerne 218 Posted January 12, 2013 I was gonna say Gelfood too. Sakura recently posted a thread about feeding gel spread out on a rock, which might help him get his share as the other fish wouldnt be able to just hoover it all up before he got chance, theyd all have to graze on it.
enesta 0 Posted January 12, 2013 I ended up just buying a new 20 gallon tank to put him in on his own, hopefully that helps. I do have gel food, but have used it sparingly. His mouth is so tiny, I don't even think he'd be able to pick at a log of gel food - maybe if I cut it up into tiny pieces.
