Fry with issues

Recommended Posts

My fish exploded in growth since I started the progold. :)

Happy birthday BIG Bill!

The way shakaho described is exactly how I used to do it. I've since gotten a mortar and pestle as my daughter couldn't swallow pills either so I would make them almost powder like with the mortar and pestle. She has learned to swallow pills so now I mostly use it for crushing ProGold if I get a fish that is too small to handle the pellets. :)

Mortar and pestle is the best thing ever. I use one everyday in school (chef-ly business and such) I'll get one for pellets =)

I love my mortar and pestle! I crush different things to add into repashy, my bf got it for me last year for my birthday because he knows how much I love my fish!

Is it acceptable to put the newest fry with the two weekers? Just curious.

Do you feel they would be able to compete with the 2 weekers for food?

I"m not sure. The two weekers are still tiny... but I don't want to risk it. Maybe when they are older.

In any batch there are always fish that grow faster than others. I think 2 weeks difference at this age would be fine provided you make sure none of the are missing out on food. Adding duckweed or a sufficient layer of algae, will provide the fry the opportunity to 'graze' between feedings and help lower the competition concerns.

That does make sense. Besides I feed very frequently and watch them eat. So I would know if someone were left out. Maybe I'll put them in together. Conserve a little space. =) Thank you!

He is too cute! Can you see a double tail on him yet? :o

Little Bill? He's a single tail. He's from Ursula and Democracy, both commons. It would be cool if he had a double tail though.

Is it strange that I tend to sit and watch him eat... and a lot of time goes by while I watch? I feel like that's abnormal haha

He's eating now off the bottom... and then he gets spooked and swims to the top. It's freaking cute! Glad to know I'm not insane or anything!
