Regular Member thefishnotthecrackers Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 I've heard that you should soak flakes and pellets momentarily before you feed them to your goldfish to prevent any swimbladder problems. But do you need to soak pellets? I've read that even pellets contain some air that the goldfish can't handle. Thx!
Regular Member cmclien Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 Yes, you should soak your pellets more then momentarily, 2 or 3 minutes would be better Pro-Gold is a pellet that alot of Koko's users here feed their fish. A store brand that people like and is full of nutrition is Omega One. Generally flakes are not recommended as they do not have alot of nutrition in them and what they do have leaches out into the water upon contact.
Regular Member FlipsHere Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 Just soak a pellet for 5 mins and see how much it grows
Regular Member GoldenSpoiledRotten Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) I definitely agree with everything cmclien said. The only food you don't have to soak is gel food. All dry foods need to be soaked, and foods that don't soak up water (freeze dried foods) should not be fed. A fish that 'breathes' water doesn't need air in its system. Edited November 14, 2012 by GoldenSpoiledRotten
