Edi got stuck to the filter!

Recommended Posts

I put like 20 of these down the line, a few inches apart. http://www.photo-dictionary.com/photofiles/list/5311/6966paper_clamps.jpg It seems to have helped a little. The bubble wall seems less intense visually, and she's swimming a little now, but she still gets knocked around a bit and seems pretty tired. What if I put her in the colander in the qt tank to protect her a bit?

hun, fold the airline tubing over and then clamp it whilst it's folded. see if that makes a difference.

I think I got it down to a manageable level for her. Here's hoping she can rest a bit tonight and will perk up a little in the morning. :wish:

Thank you so much Helen!!!! :hug

Video for today is uploading now.

Pretty much the same as yesterday, but maybe slightly less active? And there's a part of her tail that has just like...disintegrated overnight. It's in the video, you'll see it.

Could you give me a very quick recap at what has been already, please?

What specifically do you want to know Alex? Your question is missing a verb.

:rofl Robots aren't big on verbs!! "I Robot. You human. At. your. service." :rofl

My apologies, Jess! :)

Qt was bleached and cleaned out , setup the bubble wand and everything. Waited for parameters to be ok and transferred her over. No meds. Started at .1% salt, upped to .2% about 3-4 hours ago. That's it.

The flimsy bit of her tail that was still hanging on is gone already. What is happening to her?! It's like something is eating her tail! And only in that one spot.

It could be that the tissue was so damaged it simply died and fell off rather than tried to heal. As long as there are no visible signs on infection I would just say it's her bodies way of cutting losses and trying to regrow from healthier tissue rather than trying to repair badly damaged ones.

There's a fluffy on the end of it. I don't know if it's a bad fungus-y kinda fluffy, or a little piece of fuzz that fell in the tank and got stuck on it. I took a video, it's uploading now. Only 40ish seconds, so should be up within the hour hopefully.

that's ok hun.. the salt will really help :)

sometimes we salt dip fish at a high salt level that are heavily parasite infested. where the fish is mostly affected by parasites (usually on the fins) those parts of the fins most commonly fall off and regrow.

i am confident that Edi will benefit greatly from the 0.2% salt where it concerns fins and slime coat repair :)

you may want to try pinching the airline tubing some more to give her that extra comfort :)

Yeah I'm repinching it every couple hours. It pinches it shut after a few hours. I woke up to it being completely off this morning. When she looks tired, I turn it down super low (like barely on) and for the most part it's on a medium-low level.

That is really smart Helen! I'll have to find something little and round like that.

Here's the video of her tail and the mysterious fluffy.

I use these to control air flow if the pump is too strong for the tank I'm using:

http://www.aquariumg...wowayvalve.html

They're cheap and they work great! I wonder if you could find something like that locally? :)

thanks hun, i just ordered some too!.. i have one, but it's on my other small tank an i'd been looking for some more at my supplier's with no luck.. they're awesome little gadgets!

I think I have one of those, but didn't know what it was. How does it work?

You basically just cut a spot for it in your airline tubing and connect it to the 2 cut ends you created. Then you turn the valve to the amount of desired air flow. Easy as that. :)

Nothing new to report really. Slightly more active, maybe. That piece that was hanging is completely gone, so now she just needs to regenerate new tissue. How long should she be in qt for, and is there anything I am watching for?

Just did a waterchange and installed that valve thingy. (WHICH IS AWESOME! :krazy: ) She seems kinda tired today, but her lower fins are looking a LOT better! :)
