Regular Member BurningIvy Posted November 10, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 10, 2012 Ursula just laid more eggs. Is this natural so soon after she last did? She seems fine but it must be taking a toll on her body. Should I feed her some bloodworms? Also, how do I save these eggs. They are on the floor of the tank and I kind of want to hatch them. thanks!
Regular Member number20121 Posted November 10, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 10, 2012 How many times did she lay eggs already? I just gently "scraped" the eggs off the glass with my finger nails and saved a couple dozen. That's enough to hatch a bunch of fish if the eggs are fertilized.
Regular Member BurningIvy Posted November 10, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 10, 2012 This is her second time in the past month. I think they are fertilized but I'll wait and see. I hope they are. The four little guys from last time are the cutest
Regular Member dnalex Posted November 10, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 10, 2012 She might do it one more time, but I think that's about it. Last year, when my calico orandas were brought home. The female laid eggs three times total.

Regular Member BurningIvy Posted November 11, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2012 Are these eggs even fertilized? I can't tell. They are kind of yellow/clear.
Regular Member GoldenSpoiledRotten Posted November 11, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2012 I can't tell if they have black dots in them or not.
Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted November 11, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2012 I don't think they turn yellow if they are still viable.
Regular Member bodoba Posted November 11, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 11, 2012 Unfertilized eggs will turn opaque 8 hrs after fertilization and fungus will develop.

Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 I want eggs so bad but my goldies do not feel the same lol Same here! I have a feeling I've got 3 females, no males. Eggs - Fertilization = Messy Tank with No Fry to Show For It. I need to find me a man. I mean male, as in fish . . .
Regular Member BurningIvy Posted November 14, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 So, I just bought a 2.5 G tank filled a little less than six inches deep with a small heater in it. How do I transfer the eggs into the tank without killing them? Also should I wait to heat the water until they are in it or does shock only happen to already hatched goldies? I don't want to cook them.
Regular Member bodoba Posted November 14, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 Moving to cleaner water would be beneficial. What temp are you keeping the eggs at?
Regular Member BurningIvy Posted November 14, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 Currently they are at room temp because I didn't have a heater. I would like to keep them at more like 78 F. I have a tank to put them in I just don't know how to transfer them.
