can a fish be harmed physically if it is overfed?

I read that, if overfed, the goldfish for-gut will expand and is not healthy for the goldfish.

- are more prone to digestive problems

- are more prone to fatty livers

- most likely will have a shorter lifespan

and to add you what you said because goldfish do not have a stomach they cannot handle large portions of food well, it is best to feed several small meals a day. You have to also consider the temperature you're keeping the fish at as well. Colder temps will lower the metabolism and the fish will need less food, and the opposite in warmer water.
