Hello I am sorry your fish isn't well could you give us a video of his behavior? The meds you have ordered will be just fine :) do you know when they should arrive?

To salt the tank to .1% it will be 18tbsp for your 60 gallon. ;)

Also I would recommend doing just slightly larger weekly water changes to 60% to 80% since you are fully stocked ;)

I would like for you to use the Wormer Plus. There have been some concerns about the Fluke-Solve, so let's stick with the Wormer Plus until we get a better grip on the FS.

The med's should arrive today, tomorrow at the latest.

I will salt the tank this morning to 0.1% after a 70% water change and add the Wormer Plus when it comes.

As for a video he's been very shy since he's become ill, and hiding alot; so I will try but no promises

Tryed to get a video, but he keeps hiding.

Done water change and added salt, just waiting for the wormer plus. Should I stick to the dosage recommend, or has anyone had better results with a higher dosage. When I asked the manufactures they said -

Hi Danny,

With wormer plus you don't have to be that accurate to measure out this medication. In fact it can be used up to ten times the strength and still safe for plants, fish and filters.

Kind regards

Chris Ingham.

Any thoughts

You could, and should, double dose for the first 1-2 rounds. After that, single doses should be sufficient :)

Good luck!

Great news, and naughty fish! :rofl

I'd like for you to do this, please, if you don't mind:

- do 4 weekly doses of the Wormer Plus

- do 2 monthly doses of Wormer Plus after that.

Will do thanks for the help. Do you think the fin nipping will stop? He's nearly had my small red cap in his mouth LOL

That I don't know. I think you have to do something about it, because if you leave it alone, it certainly won't stop. Try re-arranging the tank, etc.

HELP

When I got home from work today I found my fish with black marks on them :-(

I have done a 50% water change yesterday anyway, but soon as I saw them today I did another 50% water change.

I have done nothing to affect the tank!!!

I think the treatment may have caused a cycle bump they look like mild ammonia burns to me.

The tank stats are

Ammonia Level 0.0

Nitrite Level 0.0

Nitrate level 5.0

Ph Level 7.6

These are the test results after my water change this evening.

Everyone's thoughts please

The black melanophore migration can happen as a protective response to any chemical burns, including meds and salt or other chemicals. I suspect that in this case, those were the places on the fish that may have had flukes.

I wouldn't worry so much about it and finish your treatment. Of course, it is always good to check parameters often and thoroughly. :)

Just wanted to weigh in about the fin nipping, I know you said the fish hasn't been gaining anyweight, is it gladly accepting food now?

Well I did the double dose last Monday, and added a standard dose yesterday. So in your view should I stop the treatment.

I've re-added my active carbon to remove any med's now anyway! I'm going to keep a close eye on them for the next few weeks

No, just continue on. Black is actually a healing response, so I think you are fine :)

The black marks are now going, and the fish is very active, still fin nipping but he seams to stop when he's been fed. Hope he will carm down. A big thank you for the help
