Guest Crystal Posted March 6, 2004 Hey guys the same fish my telescope, who has ick but he is recovering very well. All of his ick is almost gone now but the tips of his fins are black. One of my other fish was picking at him when his ick was really bad so I put that fish in another tank. His fins are growing back nicely but they're black. It's the only place on him that is black the fish is solid orange. I wanted to know if maybe they were just growing back the way they're supposed to or what? Also due to his ick he is missing some scales, should I worry about that or will they grow back on there own? Thanks guys.
pm94 0 Posted March 6, 2004 Don't worry about the scales, they will grow back. The black is normally a sign of recovery from a burn, either ammonia or nitrite. How are your water params? Make sure to treat for the ick for 6 or so days past the last spot of ick has disapeared and do some gravel vacuums too. Don't want any re-infestations later.
Guest Crystal Posted March 6, 2004 Thanks we had been wondering about that, he is a very happy fish I am so proud of him. Are you sure its ok to do a vacum? I was gonna wait untill he was completly over it because I didn't want to cause him anymore stress. A little high on the ammonia but I'm takin care of that right now with Amcoil. Thanks for your help.
pm94 0 Posted March 8, 2004 The vacuuming will be fine. It's generally recommended to do it every 3rd day. This will catch all the stuff that falls off your fish. If left untouched, can rehatch and cause problems again.
