  1. Tank: 60 gallons Fish: 3 medium/large, 1 small Ammonia: 0 Nitrates: 0 Nitrites: 0 Weekly water changes 25% Last water change 2 days ago Hi Guys, my black oranda that I have had for nearly two years has these little weird white bumps on his lower lip. He has had these for a while and I have treated him with Melafix a few months ago as he had some fungus on his tail. This did not affect the bumps at all. He has recently developed another one. He has had no problems swimming or anything and acts completely fine. I have tested my water and everything appears to be fine I do not know what to do. Thank you for looking.
  2. I've noticed a few long white stringy poops in my 55 gal. But the one just saw takes the cake before the filter sucked it up, it was close to 8-10 inches long whitish clear and stringy. I'm unsure if they're from Quinn or Florence. I also have several snails and a bn pleco in this tank so if you think I should add salt or other med I'd also like to know if it's safe for the other inhabitants? I salted and prazied this tank at the end of April because Quinn's vent was red and tail was having streaking issues. Last WC was Wednesday and I did about 80-85% and I use prazi as my conditioner. I feed usually 2-3 times per day. Omega one gf pellets, broken up algae wafers, Thera-a pellets, hikari (purple bag) and frozen mysis shrimp and frozen blood worms. Pics to follow....

Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment: Dosed QT tank with API fungus cure and put him in for 48 hours. Then dosed a second time per directions. Left him in overnight and in the morning noticed he was darting sporadically. Ammonia tested high so immediately moved him back to his tank. Total of 36 hours in QT tank. Put ½ teaspoon of salt in home tank after I moved him back from QT tank. Dissolved salt first in separate cup of tank water. Spaz is my first goldfish. I got him from a party. He was a center piece. I had an 8 month old 2.5 gallon mini bow tank that I kept a betta in but he had died from some sort of grey body patches. I didn’t know about cycling then. The aquarium has a tom’s mini filter in it which is a 3 stage filter for mini aquariums. I had cleaned the entire tank after my betta died but did not clean the filter media. Just rinsed it. The tank was cycled when I put the goldfish in. Spaz was about 1.5 in at the time and I did not have another tank to put him in. I figured he would be able to live a little longer in my tank than in the mason jar he was in at the party. I’ve had him for about 2 months and noticed he had grown to 2 inches. I then went out and bought him a 15 gallon tank which is still cycling. It has spiked the ammonia, just waiting now for that to go down and the nitrites to spike. I will move him as soon as it cycles. I know he should not be in such a small tank but I didn’t have a choice at the time. I noticed his lip turning white a while back but didn’t think much of it since he looked so healthy. I then noticed his left eye was getting cloudy. That is when I treated him with API fungus cure. I thought it might be mouth fungus. His white lip did not really respond to the treatment but his eye is clearer. There are no strings coming out of his mouth and it’s not fuzzy. Just white and possibly swollen a little. I am confused as to what he has and how I should treat him. Lately he hasn’t been swimming as much. He just sits in his bubble wall mostly. I named him spaz because when I first put him in the tank, he would not stop swimming in figure eights. I couldn’t get a picture of him. I did a 70% water change today because I read in the forums that that is one of the best things to do for a sick fish while I wait for help. I usually do 90%, 1x a week cuz the tank is so small but only did 70% today so I didn’t stress him out. I had changed the water last Sunday too. This last water change would have removed the majority of the salt I put in yesterday as I mentioned above. I only added 4 ml of stress coat to the water this time and I do make sure the water temp is the same before pouring in. Sometimes he flicks his body and then takes a big gulp of water. And it looks like there is a small raised scale right above his white lip. Here is a video: http://s163.photobuc...e31dec.mp4.html
  4. I have three goldfish. Two of them started getting breeding pimples and one of them (bolt) kept chasing sparky (who is smaller and not showing mating signs) so I put sparky in his/her own 17l tank. Last water. Change was 2 days ago. He started floating at the top of the tank, the right way around but pointing down and slightly to the side. We believe he was constipated so we gave him/her peas. A day later we noticed he had a white growth on his side. He/she had this before in the exact same location and it went away but has come back again, what is it? It is not red, it just looks like a big pimple. I added a small amount of aquarium salt and some anti fungus medicine. What is the growth? Find a picture below, blurry I know.
  5. I want to introduce you all to Pickles I decided a friend for Googles was the right thing to do... I met him weeks ago and although there were other fish perhaps more beautiful, this one stood out for me. I have a feeling he won't be too dominant for Googles either. I weighed him today- 9g! how old do you think he is? He was sold as a lionhead but want to check with you guys....
  6. She is so cute! Felix hasn't quite figured out the concept of hand-feeding yet.

    Lionhead :D

Just thought I'd share my new white Lionhead! No name yet, don't wanna jynx it He's about 1.5 inches tip-to-tail. I think he's turning orange (tiny bit of yellow on top) but I'm still hoping the colour sticks! Side View Top View Front View Using a point-and-shoot so the pics are a bit blurry

I got him from a feeder tank 1 1/2 months ago. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? - Yes. When I got him he had two little dots on his tail, they looked like little kinks in his tail, maybe where he had been nipped and there was scar tissue. I didn't think much of it, because they didn't change at all, but three days ago I saw two more, and all of them were opaque, where as they had been translucent like his tail before. This afternoon I came home and saw that his tail had been torn in two places near the dots, sometime between 7am and 3pm. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? - He is reluctant to leave his pagoda while the lights are on in the tank. He will eagerly come out to eat, and act normal during feeding time. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video. Hi everyone, I am experiencing some problems I have a small fish-- about 1 1/4 inches. When I got him he had two little dots on his tail, they looked like little kinks in his tail, maybe where he had been nipped and there was scar tissue (he was rescued from a feeder tank). I didn't think much of it, because they didn't change at all, but three days ago I saw two more, and all of them turned opaque, whereas they had been translucent like his tail before. This afternoon I came home and saw that his tail had been torn in two places near the dots, sometime between 7am and 3pm. He will stay in the shade when the light is on, but when I feed him he is eager to eat. I am having trouble getting a really clear picture of his tail right now, but I have a few that give a rough idea of the damage, and I made a sketch of what the dots/ tears look like. I am really hoping to have this diagnosed as quickly as possible, because in seven hours he got one major tear, and one smaller one, and I am worried that he will get a lot worse at this rate. When I turn the tank light off he swims up and down against the glass wall sometimes, he has always done this, but lately it has become extensive. I have also noticed an increase in sporadic darting, followed by gasping for air once of twice, and then acting normal again. None of his ornaments are particularly sharp, but should I take them out? I would suspect that he tore his tail on one of them, if the white dots didn't so exactly correlate with the tears. The fact that my tank is cycling sort of throws a wrench in the gears here, because I am trying to avoid adding medications if possible. Here are some pictures (I will try to get a better pic) : and a diagram showing his tail from the top: (on the left is how it normally looks, and the left shows the recent tears and dots) Thank you for your time! -Cyprinidae
  9. Hello everybody! This is my first post here. I have one 2" long fantail fish in a 8 gallon tank. His name is Fluffy The tank is fully cycled. Ammonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates prior to regular weekly water change are also close to 0. Ph is 8. On the bottom there is a thin layer of gravel and there is a one floating Anubias Nana plant. Filtration is done by Eheim Ecco pro 130 external canister filter. Aeration is done by a long spray bar that agitates the water. It is placed one inch below water surface and it points upward. The tank is placed few feets from the window that is facing north, so there is no direct sun light. I'm feeding Fluffy sparingly twice a day, the amount he can eat in couple of minutes. I'm feeding him flakes or sticks in the morning, shelled peas in the afternoon. During the day he is eating algae that are growing in the tank. I try not to clean too much of the algae, since they are also a part of a healthy eco system. Fluffy is perfectly healthy and happy, eats well and swims around. But few weeks ago, something strange started to take algae's place. It is growing on plant leaves, on the filter plastic plumbing (inlets and outlets), inside the filter hoses, on the glass thermometer. It grows mostly on glass and plastic, and on the hard Anubias Nana leaves. I can not see any on the gravel, beacuse I have lots of algae on it. It seems that it likes the most the areas with the strongest water flow and near the water surface. So it seems that it likes oxygen? It does not look like any algae that I have seen anywhere, because it is completely white almost translucent. But it also does not fit description of fungus. It is said that fungus forms on food leftovers and/or decaying organic materials like dead plants leaves or fish, fish injuries, etc. This white stuff in my tank is found exclusively on hard plastic and glass surfaces and healthy leaves! So it is not fungus? It looks like this, note the left side of this leaf stem: More pics: Here it is inside the filter inlet, the white stuff is waving in the water stream: Outside on the filter inlet: My biggest problem is that it forms a layer inside the filter tubing and hoses and it is significantly reducing the water flow. After hoses cleaning, the water flow can be reduced up to 50% just in a couple of weeks! Does anybody now what is this? What is the cause of it? How do I fight it? Thanks in advance, Aleksandar .

Just this white lump * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No different from normal, swimming happily and eating but the lump only came up today. Hello, I noticed today on one of my Orandas, Pebbles, that this white lump has come up on his (I'm guessing he is a he I don't know for sure) left side. It wasn't there last night. It looks like the size of one of the stones we have in the tank. After searching on this forum I couldn't find anything that looked the same so I thought I'd ask for help. It looks as if it's solid, Pebbles is still being his normal self and he was the first to go for food when I fed them earlier which he normally is, he's quite greedy. I've attached some pictures below, please have a look and see what you think. Thanks in advance.
