  1. I'm thinking of trying water lettuce with my goldfish. What has been your experience? Your goldies tear it apart, nibble on it, kindly leave it alone? Can water lettuce handle a bleach treatment (1 part bleach, 19 parts water)?
  2. I bought some water lettuce from soupmonster and she mailed it out to me on Monday. Of course the mail had to arrive super late today, and then I couldn't find the package (don't ask ) so yeah I was quite eager. But, alas, it came and I found it I never knew how fuzzy they were! Here they are chillaxin in some PP. this will do for now, wanted to show a picture of them floating but they won't be in the tank til a little later!
  3. My water lettuce came in a couple days ago, and I thought thought my terrible unboxing skills deserved a video Not really. Enjoy! E: The 'review' is in the video description http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btAyQyFIyos
  4. So my mom got some water lettuces from her friend Tabby's pond. They're infested with little pond snails. Is there a way for me to sterilize them? Does bleaching work, or would I have to go get some PP or something else? Salt water, maybe? I'm sure there are more threads about this, but I thought I'd make one that was tagged for future use.
  5. Free craigslist stuff is so fun! Today, a nice koi pond dude let me take a bucket full of his pond floating plants. I don't think I have those tropical requirements and my goldies like to nibble the roots right before feeding time, so I won't be expecting these to be permanent tank plants. Has anyone ever had luck with water hyacinth and water lettuce indoors? IF it lasts longer, I hope it helps my green dust algae problem! (My tank is by the eastern window) Plants: 22 anubias nana. (covered in green dust algae, unfortunately) 16 water lettuce of varied sizes 5 clumps of water hyacinth Lighting: 39W LED (the floating plants prevents the LED's from stressing my fish! How fun!) Animals: Nerite snail Peachos the comet Lorenzo the common And here's a closer picture: http://i46.tinypic.com/30d8qom.jpg
  6. I have 18 water lettuce plants of various sizes to sell. They are 2 for 1 dollar plus shipping. I also take trades for any goldfish plant (you would name how many you want for the plant) They have good roots and were originally with guppies and angelfish. They will be sterilized before shipping, but I recommend a second sterilization afterwards. Just leave a message for how many you want and I will try to figure out what shipping is for you. Also, please be patient because I have never sold over the internet, and I will be trying my best to make sure the plants get to you happy and healthy.
  7. How many should I get for my 55? They are 25 cents each. Also, what should I look for in terms of quality and development? They seem younger, being only 2-3 inches. How do I go about quarantining them? I have very little to work with right now but I can get it done (:
