Hey guys!
After browsing around this forum I decided to join. I'm new to goldfish and aquarium care; bringing my little guy home was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Meet my ryukin, Donatello!
I had never seen a ryukin goldfish before so he really caught my eye. He stood out because he was surrounded by smaller red & white ryukin. The poor guy had "swim bladder issues" so he was pretty floaty and clumsy looking, but adorable nonetheless. I put swim bladder in quotes because that's what they said he had but that wasn't the issue, he was constipated and after bringing him home, skipping feeding for a day and adding veggies to his diet he hasn't been floaty at all. In fact, he's a very strong swimmer.
I brought him home May 5th (cinco de mayo!) so he's still pretty new to me. The people at the store were unable to give me any specifics on his age because someone brought him in with another ryukin but that one sold before I came along. I'm almost glad Donatello looked so goofy, otherwise I'm almost positive someone else would have snatched him up! But with some TLC he's turned into a whole new fish.
I look forward to learning more about how to care for my little guy and seeing everyone else's lovely goldies!
