  1. Hi again! SO, since Amidala's passing I've been turning my attention to my little T and making sure all is OK before getting my new guys in . He has been behaving a little strangely, darting around one minute and very peaceful the next it made me suspect parasites of some sort , so I decided to treat with prazi/fluke solve this week as a safety measure, this has calmed him down a little but his behaviour is still a little unpredictable so I was planning to re-dose. But his poop is really weird! I fed him: Bits of egg, kale and lettuce before the prazi went in... -Did I mess up feeding him just before treating? His poop goes- wait for it- a normal piece- same colour, normal thickness( that doesn't just fall) followed by a clear casing followed by zigzag which is in the same colour as his last few feeds, white/green. -We are now on day 4 of a 1 week treatment of fluke solve. As I know you guys say it loses potency on day 3 was planning on redosing today after a water change and continuing, what do you think? P.s Water params are the same as in last post on Amidala (normal)- only difference being nitrates are now lower at 20PPM.
  2. I have three GF babies in a 0.2% salt solution. Increasing to 0.3% shortly. But my question is How long after they eat should I see Poop? I havent seen a lot of anything... are they constipated? One is showing signs of swimming with is head down tail up. Going to do the epson salt and green peas today. Newbie here Thanks for the info. Tracey
  3. Love me some poop tags. So, on Sunday I noticed Betty with some slightly raised scales. She is now in QT. Since then I may have become paranoid, but I have been seeing symptoms with some of my other fish. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 0-5 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0.5 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0-5 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 KH 3 drops, GH 6 drops * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.2 - 7.6 KH 3 drops, GH 6 drops Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drops * Water temperature? 76 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 125 gallons, up since May but seeded with media which has been cycled as of May 2013 * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Fluval 406 (383gph) AC70 and AC110 (800gph together) * How often do you change the water and how much? Every 5-7 days, at least 75% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Changed three nights ago, about 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? Six fish - 4 between 30g-60g, 2 around 10g * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? Omega One Cichlid, mysis shrimp, Emerald Entree, greens, and bloodworms * Any new fish added to the tank? About 6 weeks ago, my two fry were added * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Last prazi treatment was one round in mid-August. One round done in late May (when Plumbean was added), one in late April (when Betty was added). All fish were given at least four full rounds of Prazi when they were in their intial QT. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? No * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Blimp (the orange lionhead) is bottom sitting occasionally and I do find him yawning a bit more than usual. He is less active than normal, but I cannot call him lethargic. I have spotted some weird, thin, zigzaggy poop in several of the fish (Blimp is one, and Betty as well). Today poops are looking a lot better. I'm not sure that I've seen any weird poop at all today, actually spotted a normal one from Blimp just before coming here to write this. If anyone wants to throw some ideas out here, please do. I have a new bottle of Prazi on its way to me since I'm not sure I have enough in my open bottle. Kinda feel like the signs are leading to flukes but there could be more to it. I've been trying to get a video or pictures of this behavior, but you know what they're like when you're feeding lightly for a few days. Eyes everywhere. (I am also about to take a closer look at Blimp from above, just to make sure that he is not pineconing at all. I don't think he is, but if so I will report back with a video of that asap.)
  4. I just got 2 ryukins - 4 days ago. One is a Female very large red / white broad tail and the other is a Male medium white long tail. They've been in QT and I've been doing 100% water changes daily with prime - 2 air stones and a faux plant for them to hide behind. They've been spawning and she laid eggs the last two days - nothing today. I don't see her eat much but if I turn off the lights and walk away I saw her eat a little - the white medium I've seen eat often. During today's WC there were 2 LONG white and clear poops...... real long - coiled up. I haven't seen any brown poop yet.... I tried Hikari pellets, frozen bloodworms, and repashy soilent green. Thoughts?

  6. Hi all! I have a question while I read up on good feeding practices. My 5 inch ryukin goes crazy for leafy lettuce. I've noticed that lately his poop...well, it's significant! Haha. They're huge strands, bright green, a few inches long and almost the width of a straw! I wonder if it's normal just because I haven't seen it before. Usually poops are very skinny and brown. They've been getting leafy lettuce for the last 2 months or so. I'm also never sure how much lettuce to give them. I love it because it keeps them away from my plants, but I'm afraid to give too much. They go nuts for it! They also get different food once a day, either flakes or pellets or brine shrimp.
  7. Now I know it isn't Christmas yet, but I can't help but feel that in context this was a Christmas miracle that was a little early. So poor baby Otter has been having a rough time with diarrhea. It's been hard to keep him clean and poop free. So I went on the hunt for canned pumpkin today. My first stop was Target, and as much as I like Target, it failed me, as all they had was pie mix and yams ): So I headed over to Fred Meyers, which is like an area specific Walmart with better business practices. I searched up and down the canned vegetables, organics, and baking isles, at least 3 times to no avail. I picked up a can of yams with the intent to see if they would have a similar effect. Dejected, I walked over to self checkout when I noticed a woman holding a jug of Egg Nog. If you knew me in real life, you know I have an obsession with egg nog. I buy at least 3 gallons after the holiday seasons so I can enjoy it longer. Yes, I can knock down that much before it expires. So I fast walked over to the milk section and grabbed that wonderful red carton. I remembered thinking I should check around the fresh vegetables to see if they have a puree, or a cheap pumpkin I could puree myself. No dice. I had given up. I would have to deal with Otters stool, and he would have to hang in there for a little while longer until I could get to another, bigger, store. I walked back towards checkout, and even with egg nog in hand, I wasn't happy. That's when I saw it... A beautiful yellow can labled 'Organic Pumpkin'. It would not have surprised me if it had a gold aura. I believe Christmas has come early for me my friends. Needless to say, I walked out of that store with an ear to ear grin.
