Ok, so a couple of months ago I got two female tuxedo platys, found out I couldn't house them with my betta in a 5 gallon, so I gave them to my sister for her 5 gallon. Well, one started looking chubbier and chubbier, and I thought she was probably pregnant from the pet store. Well today I noticed in passing a tiny little piece of poop seeming to swim near her. Looked closer, and that poop was a baby!! So I netted the little guy as quickly as I could (in the nick of time, the other platy charged, this little one can swim fast!!!) The last time I had baby platies, it was a total fluke that I managed to find them, and this was a long time ago. I don't know how they survived. They were bigger than this one when i found them. What is the best way to care for it? I don't know what to feed it or anything! My first babies ate tiny crushed flakes. I wanna keep it alive! Help meeee! And bf agreed to let me get a ten gallon (:
I have 3 adult Platies in a 14g for about 6 months now, they have all been healthy. Except now for one of the females. My white mickey mouse Platy female is acting weird. For about 2 weeks she has been steadly losing weight, only eating flakes (avoiding treats) when they sink to the bottom, though these past couple days she has not been eating at all. She spends all her days wedged in a plant opening and closing her mouth. Her fins are always clamped and she does not respond to me, she barely even moves when I poke her. And today I noticed her back is turning red, almost looks like blood but it is not coming off of her. I feel really bad for her. I have not thought about euthanizing her because I was hoping she would get better. Now I am not so sure she will. Is it time to euthanize? I can try to get a picture of her if it would help.
