Hi All!! I finally got some new fishies!! I couldn't find the fish I wanted at the LFS in my area so ended up ordering online. I went for non-show/breed quality fish so that meant I didn't get to pick the ones I wanted, I just got to decide on the breed and colour. I also mentioned in another post that I had ordered a regular red and white pearlscale but instead got a calico crowned pearlscale. I was dissapointed at first I'll admit, but she's a tiny ball of attitude and I'm keeping her! Since my husband is probably tired of me going on about them I thought I'd share . To be honest I wasn't enthusiastic about ordering fish online, particularly ones I hadn't seen yet, but after watching some unboxing video's it allayed some of my fears. I ordered from Star FIsheries. I must say they arrived healthy but I was very unimpressed with the way they were boxed up. They were all in one big bag that was blown up with air and that's it - no packaging whatsoever and not much water. They were all rolling around in that one bag, with the bag rolling around in an overly big box with no packaging or cushioning all the way here. Ontop of that the courier was late, arriving late afternoon rather than in the morning. I know that they are not 'prize' goldfish but these are living creatures not a bloody bag of potatoes . Needless to say they have been extremely skittish, it's taken them a week to settle and stop fighting each other, even after doing the whole dark room with a towel over the QT tub. At one point I had to seperate them for two days and then reintroduce them when they were less stressed. Thankfully now they seem okay with each other and are coming up to beg for their food . On the plus side they seem healthy and are very active cute little fishies! They are all between 2-3 inches, a little older than I prefer but since they will be going in the big tank with my other goldfish I didn't want them to be too small either. I managed to get some pictures tonight while I was checking them over. I'm terrible at taking photographs and they just wouldn't stay still - so please excuse the quality. I added the extra one of Munch so you can see how fat he is
Since you guys loved my pictures in my welcoming thread so much, I took a few more today! I felt bad because I last weighed them only ten days ago but I thought I was going crazy every time I looked at Candy Corn. He seemed super big! Turns out he put on 12g since two weeks ago. Sir Candy Corn himself demanding I give him food for his vacuum mouth. Final weigh in was 50g. Candy Corn versus my girly hand! He now fits snuggly in my palm when I pick him up. Jelly Bean! Same amount of water (maybe even less) than in Candy Corn's picture. Totally can see the difference in their sizes. She came in at only 38g. She grew 8g in two weeks. Must be something in the water, seriously. Her facial wen is starting to come in more so she no longer is just a giant brain. And an extra dorky picture where my fish look like little dufuses.
So I have spent the better part of a week trying to get pictures of all of my fish! I got some ok ones, some are better than others... My fish are all very fast. Even Caligo, Unagi, and Fio are incredibly hard to get a picture of, especially since I am working with a camera that isn't faster than my fish. Hah! Mostly I am trying to distract myself with posting this thread, so, here we go: La, blending in with the sand. Look at that behind! She has a great curve and wonderful features, even for having globe eyes. Sashimi, those aren't breeding stars, she is just shiny (: She is camera shy D: Sashimi is funny looking while in the bowfront 'I'm not eating sand.....' Fio! My RG Tilty Chu! She is freaking quick. I have literally over 200 blurry pictures of her... Half of my memory card has failed pictures of her. Look at her beauty :3 This is her, 'I am going to hold still while your camera resets and then I am going to take off as soon as it is ready' face. She threw me a bone. Gave me one good picture so I would keep chasing her with the camera I got tired of chasing her tilty butt and just decided to grab her, she then proceeded to spazz out and roll over before I could get a better picture of her. Vonnegut, with his cool new colors. He has a black stripe going down his face now, and the tip of his dorsal and caudal are black now too. Rowling, as you can see I scared the crap out of her Her and Vonnegut are going to my LFS after winter to be sold as pond/aquarium fish. They agreed not to sell them as feeders because they have had parasite treatment (: 'Camera? Everybody run!!!' - Mushu, Sunny, and Renji His mood is reflecting the Oregon gray. Don't worry, Renji is in the 36 now, still in QT (: Sunny and Kiwi, playing in the 20, B-U-T-T-S-N-I-F-F-I-N-G (gasps for air) I was trying to get pictures of Sunny while he was playing with Kiwi. Someone has a girlfriend! I will let you all know in a few years if I manage a pearlscale-lionchu mix Erm.... Told ya.... Mushu and Sunny, enjoying the sun! Look at that color! And that face! (: I can't help it, he is adorable Again with the tail chasing.... I have myself a little player. Probably one of the clearest pictures I have of a fish butt. Follow the leader! Here is a Kiwi, a super cute little fish I love her so much >.< Kiwi, with attitude! Sunny, what is with Chu's being so hard to get a decent picture of? Unagi! He isn't clamping, he swims like that. His dorsal is very jointed, it looks different than everyone else's. 'o_0' *runs away* Group shot! They all wanted to look at the weird fish that was looking at them for a second, then they all swam away... Caligo! My beautiful red cap. Tui, much pinker after her stay in QT. She is the toughest fish I have... o_0 She nips fins! Well, I hope that was picture heavy enough for you guys. I hope I got everybody... It is very hard to keep track! I went from having 2 fish in January to quintupling my numbers after joining! I blame you guys >.< But I wouldn't have it any other way. For any concerns of overstocking, there will be 5 in a 70, 3 in a 55, and 2 in the 36, and the commons are going to the store after winter (: Thanks for looking! Oh, and, watch your nose on the way out! BRISTLENOSE!
I am worried about some reddened veins in Caligos tail. It isn't super noticeable, and she seems normal and healthy. But I would like to know what they look like so I can make sure that it isn't flukes. I have a small bottle of prazi pro. Would it be worth it to give her some? The parameters are normal and I noticed the veins when I picked her up. Generally, should their tail not show any veins, ever?
