4. pplz! we are changing a year! sooner, here in AU! in about an hour, me n grumpy bum head out to the city so that i can roll out a blanket and set our picnic up our yearly tradition we have seafood and champagne. we then just sit and remember (discuss) all the good times of the year which just passed us by and then celebrate the Happy New Year whilst we watch the fireworks above us sometime today, i gained the opportunity to sit and think back on all the things that i have done this year and a lot of them had been shared with your company, either via FB or Kokos i want to say thank you to the Moderating team, who have become somewhat more precious to me than my family. Koko, you're such a beautiful person. like a sister to me. the sisters i am missing in life, you've picked me up in ways that you cannot understand. you're always there for me even if to just chat and be normal.. lol. unconditional friends, thanks to you, i have made many here! i thank you with all my heart for sticking through the bad times and keeping kokos alive for us Alex, a friend i could not be any happier with! you've helped me through a lot of bad times, be it fish or life happenings. you help me to find reason, give me kooky messages so that i can smile again and more importantly, you've not judged me! never hurt me and you're just ALWAYS there for me! no topic is too disgusting, stupid or irrelevant! you really are one of my bestest of all time friends and i absolutely adore our friendship! (chants 'singapore! indonesia' repeatedly ) Jess, you're such a beautiful person! grounded, funny, loving and sincere! i recall feeling this about you when i suggested you to koko for you to join the mod team, i couldn't have found a better candidate at the time! don't change, we all love you for who you are Lisa! our youngest (time wise) moderator to join the team! i watch you get around on the forums, you're such a wonderful people person, like Jess, you have a wonderful personality, friendly, nurturing always posting with a smile, a joke some sort of pick me up humor! and our helpers! Una, Daniel, Tammy, Alex (aka #2)! you guys rock! you're always there for me! seriously, i am missing so much family in life.. but i feel it very little. logging into kokos and life is how it should be. you all make it worthwhile.. every minute spent here i want to say thank you for your friendship & company. thank you for your support! to me, it means so much to have good quality friends that don't judge and accept me for who i am! and the rest of you! you're all like my cousins! yes! you interact with me more than they actually do! i enjoy your company and spending time here with you every day! thank you for joining kokos and sticking with us HAPPY NEW YEAR!
5. So, I'm back from my vacation at Virginia Beach with a friend. I spotted a Venus Fly Trap in one of the stores on the boardwalk, and I fell in love. So after some gentle persuasion from my mother (okay, maybe I was begging) I took him home for 9 bucks. Here he is: ">http:// ">http:// he's still really small, but I'm sure he'll grow fast because I already see little sprouts in the soil! Caring for Venus Fly Traps is not too difficult, in case you were wondering, just a few simple things: ~ Since they get they're nutrition from feeding on insects, they need to be potted in nutrient POOR soil, preferably a 1:1 ratio of sphagnum peat moss and perlite ~ Soil must ALWAYS stay moist, or the plant will die. They also need some humidity, so a cover is recommended. ~ They must only be watered in distilled, rain, or reverse-osmosis water ~ Fly Traps need a minimum of 4 hours direct sunlight a day, the more the better. I'm going to try feeding him a little bit of thawed bloodworms and see how he likes it. So, as you can tell, I always thoroughly research any living thing before I buy it. I'm OCD like that.
6. i was shocked to be listening to the radio today to find that a cat had almost died because it was restricted to eating 'vegan'. A KITTEN has almost died after its owners fed it a strict vegan diet. The horrific case at a North Melbourne animal hospital has prompted a warning about the dangers of people "forcing ideologies" on their pets. Lort Smith Animal Hospital veterinarian Leanne Pinfold said the kitten was brought in this month by its owners, who were believed to be vegan. She said the kitten's diet of potatoes, rice milk and pasta had caused it to become critically ill. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/kitten-nearly-dies-from-vegan-diet/story-e6freuy9-1226682108386
7. I went out this morning to cut some lettuce from the garden for my goldfish, and as I was coming back, I quickly glanced at my compost pile. I became extremely horrified when I saw this: ">http:// It's some sort of orange fungus! It's kind of cool, yet disgusting and violating at the same time. It's grown on some plants that sprouted in there, pretty sure they're weeds. I don't know what to do! Have any of you experienced this fungus like this in your yard or garden? My most important question is: Is this poisonous to the touch?
