Hi guys ! I am happy to report that I too have jumped on the snail bandwagon I received my purple mystery snail in the mail yesterday from Daniel E.... and the little dude has been doing great so far ! I have dubbed him/her 'Lucky' as shortly after receiving him/her in the mail I received notification that I was accepted for transfer into my top choice college (pretty awesome, eh? ) anywho, I have a few questions as I am new to snail care: 1. are snails as sensitive to water quality as goldfish are? I am temporarily keeping Lucky in a bowl for observation so that any potential yuckies on his shell aren't transferred to mochi's tank. 2. as far as feeding goes...how long should i leave food in his bowl and how often should he be fed ? 3. how often do i need to change is water? i am going away for three days this week- will Lucky be okay? or should i have my boyfriend do daily water changes for him? thanks guys, will post pictures soon !
Hi all (: So, along with my goldie tank.... I also have a 5 gallon betta tank, with Malachi the betta in it (he's so old....I have no idea how long i've had him ....it feels like forever ! ) Anyways, about two months ago my boyfriend bought me a white mystery snail (whom he dubbed 'Sheldon the Snail')- and Sheldon has been living with Malachi ever since. However, I can't help but feel that Sheldon isn't very happy living in he five gallon with Malachi? He dosn't seem to move all that much, I often think he's dead But am relieved when I find him later in the day on the other side of the tank or up the tank wall. I have no idea how he's so sneaky !! I literally never catch him in the act of moving Anywho, my question to you guys is.... should I move him to the 20 gallon with Mochi? Would he be happier in there? Are snails typically this sneaky? Does he just not like me?
I had never had problems keeping snails alive when I knew nothing about fish in college, and now that I have a healthy gold fish tank, I'm not doing very well with Mr. Snail. He was active and his shell looked great for a few weeks, then randomly stopped (moving and color faded shell). I thought he died but left him in there.. later he was a little more active but not normal. Now I think he's dead again. This has been happening the last 2 weeks. I had a yellow one in my Betta tank that did the same thing. If the fish are fine (water is fine) why aren't the snails? Is it diet/temp/lighting/something else?
My beautiful baby blue apple snail that Dakotak ordered for me arrived today! As well as a little extra baby. <3 who has orange eyes and is just precious aaah. It was hard to get pictures but I wanted to show them off. And a video of Pierre being adorable: And a quick question: Anyone have a good way to raise the calcium in the tank?
