  1. I decided to play around with a bit of the koi-clay I have before adding it to my tank. When I add some clay to a container with water and shake it vigorously, it doesn't dissolve. Water does become cloudy, but it seems to me that all the clay just sinks to the bottom. I tried (the directions suggested ) taking a bit and adding water to make a ball, letting it dry and then putting the ball in water. This way it says it will slowly dissolve. But mine just immediately came apart and all the particles sank to the bottom. I'm skeptical about what was sold to me. I purchased it at a store, and the container wasn't sealed. When I started my search for this, I called them and they said they didn't have any and would have to order it, then the very next day they called me to say they had it. For some reason, I just wonder if this is really koi-clay. It's actually called Montmorillonite, which I've googled and it seems that this is the same as bentonite clay. Last night I made a batch of gel food adding some of this, but before I feed it or use it in any way, I want to be sure I was sold the right stuff.
