  1. I did my twice weekly water change yesterday and I can't believe I missed this! Two other fish are showing symptoms. Water parameters are normal. I have Epsom salt and Kordon Rid-Ick Plus. Kanaplex and Metroplex, too. My tank is 125 gallons with about 10 small goldies. There is a 20 gallon QT tank set up. Should I just dose the whole tank? You folks saved Fred last year with your recommendation of antibiotics. Please advise! Thanks!
  2. Hi, This is one of my new fish bought today from our LFS. I didn't notice until we came home, but I think he may have ick? Can anyone confirm this for me please? I have him in a QT tank with the other fish I picked up today, a pearlscale. They were both in the same bag from the shop, so I did not bother to QT them separately as I figured that they would both have the same pathogens now. How do I proceed with the QT procedure for them both? Do I salt and treat for ick? or just treat for ick, and when it is gone salt and prazi? Do you have a link for ick treatment? this is a photo Test Results for the Following:* Ammonia Level(Tank) 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank) 0ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tap) 0ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.4 kh55 gh250 approx. API freshwater master test kit * Water temperature? 22degrees Celsius * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 4 gal. Newly disinfected yesterday and set up for QT to start today. * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aqua One Air Filter Cartridge for up to 26L * How often do you change the water and how much? Will do daily and percentage as required to keep below 0.15ppm and daily test ammonia levels. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? yesterday, disinfected tank and added new water & prime for QT * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 both about 5-6cm * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? Nutrifin Max Flakes small pinch morning and night, the food is all gone before it hits the bottom of the tank, and it is gone in less than a min. * Any new fish added to the tank? Yes both are new as of this afternoon. * Any medications added to the tank? None * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. None yet * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? grains of salt??? * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Both eating well and alert, no abnormal behaviour so far. But they have only been in the tank for two hours.
  3. I'm not sure if this is on the right area. Move if needed. I was wondering, how many watts would I need to kill parasites (especially ick) in let's say 600 gallons of water? And what would be the best GPH for it? Thanks!
  4. Hi Gang, My Goldie is probably terminal, but I'm hoping there is a chance I can save him with your help. Was thinking he had Ich so began treating him with Kordon's Ick Attack for the past several days. He was fine until I came home this afternoon at 5pm, and I found him like this: What do you all think? Break out the clove oil? :/
  5. I seem to have gotten the upper hand of the ich infection in my tanks. I did quarantine Brain, Hershey and the unnamed Ryukin. I ultimatey lost both Hershey and the Ryukin but Brain has survived. He will remain in quarantine for 2 more weeks and I'm still salting the quarantine tank and the main 100g tank. Still vacuuming daily which is a grueling schedule for me. However, all fishies are perky and back to theor normal selves. I see NO SPOTs at all and I am very hopefull that the tank will recover. I'm going to continue treating for 2 additional weeks. Better safe than sorry! Thank you all for all your help and knowledge and encouragement! I could not have done this without you! FishyMom
  6. Looked at my red cap oranda sparky today and he has specks of white all over him. This is the first time I have noticed it. Should I treat it with salt? Another thing is I have a pleco fish in the tank, and no where else to put him if I need to salt the tank without him. Will my oranda be ok? Is salt the answer?
  7. Hi - I just brought home 3 new fish, 2 of which seem to have some disease present. Unfortunately, I did not notice until I got home. The store is willing to take them back, but I was wondering if I could get a diagnosis and tx. options. I have not posted my tank ph etc, but these are new fish, so the water in my tank did not make them sick. Pretty sure the gold fantail has ick, but don't know what the black and gold telescope has. https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink
