  1. I have inherited 9 goldfish in my new home. Initially, they were all healthy in November and ate pellets once or twice a month ( because winter) but in late February the water turned black and I never saw the fish. This is when I being a naive pond owner, cleaned the entire pond, and unknowingly scrubbed all the good bacterias. I feel like a murderer now as in the last 2 months 1 fish has died and all fish have been sick. We added pure aqua bomb 5 weeks back, tested the water and all looks fine but the fish health is no better. This includes a visit from Des Harris ( Southeast Koi club). He provided us Praziquantel for Flukes for the 1st week and FMG for the second dose. I see at least 4 of my fish have got fungal (the fish did had the same along with bruises during spawning). So now I have added API salt in 3 parts i.e 1kg every 8 hours. In total 3 kg for 300 liters of water because I noticed few had fungus and swim bladder symptoms. I have tested the water using api drip kit( PH 7.5-8, NItrite-0, Ammonnia- 0.25, Phosphate - 0.25) Please advice what should I do further?
  2. What's a good fungal treatment? I have a bottle of Mardel, but it doesn't seem to be working...might be kind of old.
  3. Hello! I am new to KoKo's and I've been directed to here by a lot of my friends. My large oranda that I had purchased from Petsmart has great wen growth. But they other day there was this random growth that was hanging off the side of her wen and it was jiggling everywhere, it was red and white. I inspected it then put her back in the regular tank with some aquarium salt. Then 5 minutes later, it was gone! People were suggesting she had hole in the head syndrome, but then the next day the tiny hole filled in with a lot of wen! Now the part looks cottony and white, its weird. I am worried and I do not know hwat it is, please help! I don't know how to add any photos or videos
  4. All levels 0 aside from nitrate - About 20ppm coming out of tap. Ph 7.6 The four smaller fish are new and are showing similar symptoms - some worse, one hardly at all. These have never been in the main tank but are showing the same symptoms as my large ranchu so I have been treating them all together. Had them about a week. I have them all in a 20 g long together and am changing 100% water daily and redosing meds. The large black ranchu is from my main tank and is the only one showing these symptoms out of the fish from the main tank. There is a sponge filter in the qt tank for aeration. It looks sort of like ick, but is almost transparent, and looks sort of like fungus, but isn't really fuzzy. All 5 fish showing clear or green tinted (from duckweed) poops that can be round, or flat. I have been treating with 2x prazi, metro loose in the water, and am going to make some metro gel food as well. Large ranchu beginning to pinecone just slighty, as is the smallest ranchu most effected, but this appears to be more from scale irritation than giving an appearance of dropsy. This fish eat: duckweed/plants, bloodworms, and my big ranchu prevoiusly ate repashy gel food as well. For the first two days I treated with Ich-X too, but it is a very intense med and didn't seem to help much, and with the other two, adds up to a lot of meds in the water. I am really baffled as to what this is and could use the help of experts here - I haven't seen anything like it. The large ranchu has some color loss in one area of her wen - poor circulation? and her depth of color seems to vary a lot over the course of the day, from deep black to "purple." I love all these guys and am at a loss here. Pics to follow.
  5. I've been caring for this little guy for several weeks now, trying to cure him for my sister in law who is busy with a new baby. he had a couple of patches of grey/white on the body & a small amount of tail damage with white edge. the last week it seems to have gotten out of hand & spread & now he has stopped eating. I've mostly had him in up to .3% salt in a 12 litre QT which seemed to do not much at all. I've lost track of water changes & sometimes I didn't have any salt in the water at all to see how he went & if things got better. out of desperation I tried maracyn 2 & maroxy about 2 weeks ago & about 3 days ago I tried multi cure. his appetite has been good up until yesterday. I've just done another large wc & tried to clear everything out of the water at this stage (except the prime of course). i'm afraid i'm losing him & would appreciate any advice. as I said he is in an uncycled QT & I have been doing at least 50 % wc every few days. I don't know if the water params are helpful in this situation but can give them if needed.
  6. Hello! I'm new to this forum and need help with my fish who is not doing well, hopefully some of you will have some tips to help. I have copied the information table below, hopefully this is right, I still need to test for some of the info as I've only just been reunited with Mr Bojangles, my unwell fishy. I had to go abroad for work for 6 months and had to leave my 5 year old black moor with a friend. While I was away he developed swimbladder and can't stay upright. He stays on the bottom of the tank which has caused his side to 'rot'. I feel so bad for him and hope he's not been suffering too much. Any help is much appreciated, I can give more info if needed, just ask. Will provide photos and/or video tomorrow if possible Hi everyone. For mother's day I bought my mom a gorgeous male betta with a stunning pearl-like colour... Such a shiny fish! She loves bettas and has missed having one since ours passed away ten years ago. Little guy lived past the expected life span and was truly a joy to see every day. Her new betta named Charlie was doing great until a few days after arriving when he decided that eating wasn't going to happen. We've tried flakes, pellets, "betta bites" and he finally showed interest in frozen and freeze-dried worms and daphnia. Suddenly he stopped eating well (only eating probably 1 freeze dried daphnia , ignoring the rest and eventually not eating anything) and began to develop a strange black/grey fungus looking appearance mainly on his fins and not much on his body. I started doing daily water changes, monitored parameters extremely closely and nothing changed. I introduced the first dosage of Fungus Cure and then today repeated the dose as instructed on the package. He's not looking any better, his reactions to seeing us have been extremely delayed, he mainly sits by "his (live) plant" on the bottom of the tank and he completely refuses to eat. I've also noticed he's been scratching himself against his plants whenever he gathers up the strength to get up. He will occasionally look at me, do a little turn, scratch on the plant and sink back down to the bottom. I'm not sure what else I can do for him and I'm afraid that if he continues to not eat he won't make it through the rest of the Fungus Cure treatment even though there aren't many days left of it. I tried dipping some of the food in garlic water and he completely ignored it. Do I try to transfer him over to the 10g tank that's currently not being used? Give it more time? I'm so afraid of losing him as he's become quite fond of me and the feeling is very much mutual. :'( Thanks.
