  1. Hi. I'm somewhat new to having fish so I'm a little nervous and careful about what i do. I have a tank that has been going for 5 days, I got my fantail on the third day. The first day he was slightly stressed but now he is very comfortable. My question was would he be stressed if i changed the decor? I plan on switching out the decor completely for new stuff. (There are only 2 things in the tank right now.) Would the switching of decor change the pH levels? Also how long should I wait after washing the decor in tap water before putting it in the tank? Thanks so much
  2. Do any of you have ideas on DIY aquarium decor? Thanks!
  3. I've posted a few forum posts already, and some of you may know me and how I love to rearrange my aquarium decor. So basically all I'm asking are tips on basic aquascaping and what decor I should get. I'm trying to go for a more natural feel. If you have any ideas on fake plants, decor and other things, please let me know. Thanks everyone!
  4. Hi All! I have a large piece of Mopani Driftwood up for grabs if anyone wants it! It is too big for my 55 gallon, plus I have very soft water here so I am not daring enough to even try to use it! I bought it new at my LFS in Washington DC for about $40 (I believe). It has never been in my actual tank, but I did have it soaking in dechlorinated water in a plastic tub for a couple weeks. You should probably still boil it to release the tannins and disinfect it/soak it in dechlorinated water. Approximate dimensions are 13" x 12" x 6". PM me if you are interested! I would love to trade it for anything/something of comparable value (I love Anubias/Java Fern hint hint! )....but really just looking to get rid of it in the end! Pictures posted below!
  5. I just got the 30 gallon yesterday and I had absoloutley no money to buy any decor. (You know, those times when you are like "Alright, total is $230.86... Wait I have only 130") Yeah it is pretty much always like that to me. xD Anyway, I am going to start buying some decor to put in the tank, but I wondered if Goldfish liked sleeping under silk plants or even in large LARGE houses. (My goldfish are only about 3 inches) I had two comets before and they liked to sleep in houses. So any Ideas? You can even put in ideas on how you think you would like to decorate my tank. 23 replies = Pics (It is because I dont have my camera right now to show you how my tank looks like, but if you guys think you can write 23 replies, I will get the camera for you!)
  6. i eventually want to add anubias to my tank (attached to driftwood). I was wondering where you get your driftwood from? I went to a fish store yesterday and they only had rock (small and expensive)
  7. Went to go get some Prime from Petsmart and of course when you're there you have to come home with new stuff - especially if you're feeling depressed (my kind of chocolate. lol). So we got the prime and flourish from Petsmart and got some fluorescent bulb that I later found out is broke, got a baffle for the filter (thanks Koko) and then we went to Petco for plants. We ended up getting another piece of black lava rock and some wisteria. Pics to come... Oh, and everyone is fine. Thanks to everyone who helped, you know who you are
  8. I eventually want to add plants and decorations to this tank. But I have no idea as to what. I do want plants that are easy to maintain. What plants do you think would look good in this tank? I've never seen a planted tank in person thus I'm having a hard time picturing something. Currently only the light on the left is working btw.
