Hello, My pearl scale goldfish has a growth on its head. I believe it is a growth rather than a fungus or "ick" because it is not white and cottony, but is flesh-colored, and because it is concentrated in only one area. I think it began last October. It's getting steadily bigger and seems to be curving around and will soon start to poke my fish's eye. My fish is twelve years old. I have some pictures but I'm not sure how to post them, of if I can. Can people perform surgery on goldfish to remove growths like this? I'd be very grateful for any advice you can give. Thank you so much Robin
So many of you know I live 800 miles from my parents and I'm an only child. I'm also a registered nurse that works in labor and delivery (for 9 years) but in the beginning of my nursing career I worked pediatric hem/onc. Well, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer on October, 13 2015. After his PET scan, they changed the diagnosis to probably lymphoma. They've been pushing off his biopsy because he has DVTs (blood clots) in both legs and one clot in his lung and be because he has atrial fibrillation (afib). When I went home earlier this month for my moms shoulder replacement surgery, I met 2 of my dad's doctors too. I was NOT impressed. They are very La De Da about his care. When I came home from that trip my husband and I decided (with a small amount of coercion) to move my dad to St. Louis so he can get treatment here. I have a connection with a good treatment center. We are just waiting for the buffalo docs to send the stl docs hard copies of all his many tests. Hopefully, dad (aka Tom) will have his biopsy the first week in December and can start treatment the following week. I'm flying into buffalo on Tuesday and dad and I are driving to St. Louis on Wednesday with his 80 pound lab named Brownie. Please pray for him!
