Bottom sitting For the past 4 days Skipper has been just bottom sitting, he will come out of the corner when being fed, but after that he will just sit at the bottom. I started a maintenance round of prazi (no salt) just to be on the safe side. He shows no other signs of being ill other than bottomsitting. I am wondering if it could be something internal. All other 3 fish in tank are active and doing fine. Could I just be paranoid? After loosing Citrus I don't want to take any chances.
  2. My goldfish has been bottom sitting a lot, I have been treating her with Prazipro for fluke, based on its symptoms of lethargy and bottom sitting. I would like to know the best treatment plan for Yin's fluke, redness and irritation (my panda telescope).
  3. Hey everyone. I feel like I'm never a day out of the D+D threads. So here goes, Ursula is refusing food and bottomsitting as of this time yesterday. In that time she has received two 60% water changes to hopefully help her out. I'm not sure why she's being like this because she JUST finished up her time with prazi. However, Bill did just move in with her Friday night. I'm not sure what's wrong but I'm nervous since she's older. And the info you really want: Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank):0 * Nitrite Level (tank)0 * Nitrate level (Tank)0 * Ammonia Level (Tap):0 * Nitrite Level (Tap)0 * Nitrate level (Tap)0 * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)7.6 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)7.0 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?api drops * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)?2 ac 50s * What kind of water additives or conditioners?prime, baking soda, crushed coral * Water temperature?72* * How often do you change the water and how much? 50% -1-2x per week * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? yesterday 60% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 30G long and about a year little under * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 one 8 inch common and her one inch son * What do you feed your fish and how often? 4. Hey guys, Lucas, my fry formerly known as cannibal is being treated for flukes. He was until last night housed with Bill. As of now he is in a 3 gallon bucket because it is all that I have and I can't get anything bigger. I change his water with the prazi schedule (so like day 1, 4, 5.) Instead of doing 50% changes, however, I do full 100% changes just because it would get too gross without it. I'm worried though because he clamps his dorsal and sits at the bottom a lot (this started yesterday). Today is day 2 of round 2 which means he has had clean water the past three days in a row so I'm not suspicious of water quality. Since he's been on his own he's been much more active but still sits most of the time. He moves when I'm around and he sees me so pictures of the sitting are virtually impossible. He has no filter since it's such a small space. He's barely an inch long. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank): 0 * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 * Nitrate level (Tank) 0 * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0 * Nitrite Level (Tap) 0 * Nitrate level (Tap) 0 * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 6.8 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? api drops * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? na * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime, baking soda, crushed coral * Water temperature? 72* * How often do you change the water and how much? 100% day 1,4,5 * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? last night 100% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? since last night * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1, 1 inch * What do you feed your fish and how often? soilent green 2x per day * Any new fish added to the tank? no * Any medications added to the tank? prazi and salt at .1% * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) none, but many of his siblings from his round died off last week * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? none * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? bottom sitting, rarely moves his mouth, clamped dorsal, from the looks of his tank, he didn't eat breakfast either =/ * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Prazi, this is day 2 round 2 * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video. Pictures on the way!
  5. Hi guys. Ursula (baby momma) is bottomsitting as of this evening. She appeared fine last night which was the last time I saw her until just an hour ago. At first I thought I'd woken her up. I had to leave her light off all day because of outstanding circumstances. Anyway, she was sitting and I thought nothing of it until I noticed she wasn't breathing much. Then I decided to test the water and though I've been very diligent changing 50% every two days the water was still not great. So, I did a huge water change in panic mode (80%) and made sure the pH was the same and temp matched and put it back in. Then I decided it was time to set up the other 30G I was saving it for a weekend project but I couldn't bare it anymore. Long story short, Ursula is Qt'd in her 30G with only one AC50. She'll be getting another AC 50 tomorrow as will the new tank. Will they be okay with only 5X filtration just one day? That's another topic. Anyway! Here's what you want to know about in the first place. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank): after WC 0 before WC.5 * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 0 * Nitrate level (Tank) 0 10 * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0 * Nitrite Level (Tap) 0 * Nitrate level (Tap) 0 * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.4 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.0 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? api drops * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? AC 50 and before just now a hush elite 35 * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime, baking soda, crushed coral * Water temperature? 70* * How often do you change the water and how much? 50% every 2 days * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? today 80% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 6 months * How many fish in the tank and their size? currently just one common 6 inches previously 3 * What do you feed your fish and how often? repashy SG and Super green, nutrafin pellets on occasion, bloodworms * Any new fish added to the tank? no * Any medications added to the tank? no * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) just her little fin mass * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? no * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? bottom sitting not sure if she'd eat I haven't fed her yet. Will check. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Salt and prazi on start up and salt as needed for bumps and scrapes * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video. Pictures on the way. Video is not just because if you look at the picture that's exactly what it looks like in video form. =p Thank you all so much for your time! I hope she's going to be okay!!
  6. Unfortunately I don't know what the water conditions were in the tank before I had them. I do know that they were in a 250 G tank that was heated and filled mainly with tropical fish including a very aggressive cichlid. The tank was way overstocked with probably more than 25 fish at any given time. The fish die off like nobody's business and then are replaced with new, sometimes aggressive, fish, like oscars. The tank's water changes were only made every six months or so and the six inches of rocks on bottom hadn't been cleaned in over a year. I took them last night and brought them home. I only have a 10 G quarantine tank for the time being but will be getting a larger one to keep them in if they live on more than this week. I took them out initially because I was certain they had swimbladder from some reading I've done on the site. They were both floating at the top of the tank and would eat a lot of food but never really saw if they passed it at all. They both have fin issues as well. I will post pictures. Anyway, last night I fed them some peas which they ate right up and this stopped the bloating. But now all they do is sit at the bottom of the tank and don't move hardly at all. I'm not really sure what to do with them. I have their current water conditions if you'd like those but they've only been in this water for under 24 hours. * Ammonia Level - 0 ppm * Nitrite Level - 0 ppm * Nitrate level - 0 ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 7.2 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 6.2 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? api master kit * Water temperature? 76 F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 10 G and about 2 weeks * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? aquatech 10 * How often do you change the water and how much? starting today it will be daily 80% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? I haven't yet * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 fantails about 1.5 inches * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime seachem * What do you feed your fish and how often? nutrafin sinking pellets twice a day and boiled deshelled peas to help with bloating * Any new fish added to the tank? both of them * Any medications added to the tank? melafix and prazi * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. melafix and prazi * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? one has a fin that has a bend in it... sort of looks like it has been ironed into a crease, the other is missing part of his dorsal fin * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? well they were floating but now they are bottomsitting
