A couple weeks ago at Petsmart I saw this really cool black female crowntail. I was playing with the thought of trying to add her to the sorority (risky of course) but then decided not to risk it. Today I had to pick up some filter floss and as always take a look at the bettas, and the poor girl was still there, in rather bad condition. Her whole body looked like it was dusted over with something, beginning fin rot, the water in her cup cloudy and full of particles floating around. This time I didn't think twice about it and took her with me to the checkout. I knew that since no one bought her when she still looked healthy, no one will buy her now looking ill, in a dirty cup, placed at the very back of the betta rack. At home she received a 100% water change, was moved into Will Ferrell's old, larger cup (which holds pretty much exactly half a liter of water, so that's not too bad for a betta QT), added a tiny pinch of salt, three drops of prazi pro and melafix each. Of course I also added a small piece of hornwort and the remains of a destroyed moss ball. The water change immediately made her look so much better, much of the "dusting" is gone. I haven't fed her yet, but I'll give her a couple blood worms and see how she does. She is a very feisty one. I wonder if adding her to the sorority will work out - not so much because of the other five girls but because she is has enough attitude for three girls We'll see If not, I am sure I'll find a solution After the water change she looks so much better. Crazy how much bigger this cup is, and now with her looking nicer again she shows off the midnight blue shimmer on her body. She is so gorgeous I hope she makes it through QT.
