  1. New Red cap oranda and moor are my joy and this Summer was a disaster as super heat conditions plus a cloud of material from our pine trees which shade our ponds created a special condition which produced in very rapid time ( few hours) a toxic milky white water . This killed many of my prized fishes. Now we restart with a very nice little group of red cap oranda , a few black moor and about fifty nice guppy from Israel and shir lanka. These of course are all inside acquariums. It is a few years since I visit shop and purchase new fish and I am impressed by the high quality of their health. So far only ick and of course the normal % deaths of guppy after travel. I hope that soon I will be able to provide more good news .
  2. Hi guys ! Some of you may remember when I first got the small guppy tank ... Well things have changed ... I no longer have live plants as they were dying and brought in snails :/ Unfortunately I Lost one , I don't know why But I cleaned and revamped today so thought I would share TANK LEMON SATURN COBRA LIPSTICK ALL SNAIL IM KEEPING ( FRANK ) Had to keep this little one If anyone knows what snail he is I would appreciate it
  3. I went to petsmart and bought 2 ghost shrimp. I don't really know anything about them so can you please answer my questions? Here they are- What do they eat? Housing needs- Is 2 enough?- Any special care?- Tank Temp.?- Are they compatible with my female guppy?- Thanks!
  4. Okay so today I picked up 5 male guppies from my moms bosses tank at work. It is ridiculously overstocked because the guppies just keep breeding and they don't do anything about it. I can't fill out the form because it is not my tank so I don;t have any readings, but I know it gets a cleaning maybe once a month if their lucky, and they throw out the filters and everything (so it never stays cycled) Ugh. I tried telling her how to properly take care of them and said I would come clean it but she doesn't really care. SO anyways, four of them look like they have lifted scales (which I didn't notice until I got home because it is really hard to see on these tiny little guys!) and are pretty bloated if you look from the top. I'm not sure if it could be from overfeeding and constipation (because I know they really overfeed them too) or if it would be from an infection or something. They do rarely ever have deaths (which is amazing) so I'm wondering if it really could just be overfeeding.... I can attempt a picture but I really don't think I will be able to get a good one since the scales are so darn small. I will QT them of course but what should I do for them??
  5. Aleas XP-80 176 GPH [*]How often do you change the water and how much? Every 2 days, 80% [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 guppy, 1 inch [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime [*]What do you feed your fish and how often? Flakes once a day [*]Any new fish added to the tank? Guppy [*]Any medications added to the tank? No [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? He was attacked by other guppies [*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Slight C shape, Lethargic So my neighbor just brought up a little guppy that had been attacked after feeding time. I don't keep guppies and I have no clue what to do. I have him alone because I can't very well put him with my goldies I figure I will let him de-stress and see how he is doing in a little while. She has a 5 gallon with 4 guppies and is trying to upgrade to a 10. Is there something I can do to help him heal? I can't get a video because he is so small my camera won't focus on him. Do I... Salt the aquarium? I just don't know what to do with guppies \:
  6. SO after the loss of my last betta I decided that I would be taking a break from bettas. I still had my 2 ADF's, snails and 1 lonely ghost shrimp left in the tank though so I decided I wanted to get some fish to fill up the top space. I first I was looking at rosy red minnows but decided I would need a bigger tank for them. That was when I thought of male guppies! They are super pretty, and I wanted to make sure I didn;t have to deal with a bunch of babies so I got only males. I didn't make it to my favorite LFS in the city because I just didn't have time since I was driving everyone around. I got these from petsmart, and they employee I was dealing with really made me mad. I could here the employees asking people how big their tanks were (apparently this must be a new rule) which is good, except for the advice they were giving still sucked majorly. The guy I was talking to was treating me like I was some dumb bimbo and so I explained to him I was part of a fish forum and knew a LOT about fish (and I said he must hear that all the time) and I have many tanks and always have had so I know what I am doing. I even had to correct him on the advice he was giving me! Ugh. He ignored everything I said and was rolling his eyes at me. He kept going on and on about calculating your stocking level using inches, which I told him isn't really that accurate, but in the end I just took my fish and left because he was so annoying. Well anyways lol enough ranting, here is the fish! Here they are in their holding container before I put them in the tank First thing he did was check out the baby snails lol Buddies! SO hard to get pictures of this one. He is fast! Here is my apple snail who is temporarily in here until my salt and prazi finishes in the main tank..... I might keep him in here though because he seems to like it One of the ADFs Here is one of my 2 year old trumpet snails ( well I have had them for 2 years, they are probably older) Here is a baby trumpet snail (only about 5mm long) ANother ADF shot Eating foooooooood! Sorry for the ridiculous amount of pictures and the blurriness of some.... I was trying to get at least one picture of every one.... It was hard to do! They are fast little buggers
  7. This video is a sample of water out of the 20 gallon Guppy tanks filter. I had another video but it got lost in transit Enjoy!!
