  1. :th_news: I finally got a crested gecko!!!! I have wanted one for a long time and for Christmas I got the supplies for one. His name is Theo, and he is just a hatchling. I got him at "Off the Ark" and I am sooo happy. Pics will come soon!
  2. I'm finally in the Ranchu game! After a long time waiting, my local pet stop finally got a shipment of Ranchus in. Though, all of them were pretty small. After about 15 minutes of evaluating them all, I chose this lil guy. http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/incredibleSE/media/IMG_20131024_194508.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/incredibleSE/media/20131024_192145.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 After a couple days in the quarantine tank, the lil guy is now in the main tank with the 3 Orandas. Excited to see him grow. I still have to think of a name for him so suggestions are welcomed!
  3. I went into the local pet store to buy some of my favorite goldfish pellet food (which they didn't have ) and I came out with this little guy! He's a baby Blue Oranda, and I just couldn't resist! I have never seen one that looked this good in a pet store before. His coloring, the fact that I can actually see blue in him, instead of just a bronzy brown color, is what really caught my eye. I really hope he doesn't depigment later on. But, as pet store goldfish don't have the purest of genes, I have a feeling he might, but that's fine too. My Red Cap Oranda, that I bought from the same store, is now all white, and I still love him . His color seems pretty solid for right now, but, any thoughts? Anyone ever have a Blue Oranda that depigmented to another color? He does have a little bit of wen growth, which is pretty hard to see, and even harder to see in this picture, but it is there! Here he is again, facing the other way so you can see his other side, although it is pretty blurry. He's in the quarantine tank for the moment, and he gets to stare longingly at the main tank all day. You can see my beautiful Black Oranda, Big Momma, showing off in the background there. As well as the once Red Cap now White Oranda mentioned above, and my Sakura Ranchu. Can even see a little Nerite snail on the side there! I was so excited, just thought I'd share! Can't wait to get him in the big tank.
  4. Say hello to Juno! I've been bottle feeding her for about a week and a half now. Today we purred for the first time, and drank formula out of a saucer instead of a bottle pretty sure this little special-needs gal is going to accompany me to my new place in August!!! Juno only has 3 legs due to a birth defect. Her umbilical cord wrapped around one of her hind legs in the womb, and caused it to atrophy. She had the atrophied part and some additional bone removed from the leg a week ago, and since then the swelling has gone way down! She's a champ - loud, energetic, and curious. Not sure yet whether she'll be a longhair or shorthair. This is my first orphaned kitten so it has been a great learning experience. I'll be sure to update you guys as she grows!
  5. Ok, so a couple of months ago I got two female tuxedo platys, found out I couldn't house them with my betta in a 5 gallon, so I gave them to my sister for her 5 gallon. Well, one started looking chubbier and chubbier, and I thought she was probably pregnant from the pet store. Well today I noticed in passing a tiny little piece of poop seeming to swim near her. Looked closer, and that poop was a baby!! So I netted the little guy as quickly as I could (in the nick of time, the other platy charged, this little one can swim fast!!!) The last time I had baby platies, it was a total fluke that I managed to find them, and this was a long time ago. I don't know how they survived. They were bigger than this one when i found them. What is the best way to care for it? I don't know what to feed it or anything! My first babies ate tiny crushed flakes. I wanna keep it alive! Help meeee! And bf agreed to let me get a ten gallon (:
  6. So, when my 70 is here I will be setting up either a 40 with my 3 babies, or my 55! (: For now he is chilling with everyone else and getting some prazi. He is so cute! BF chose him and named him(: Welcome Renji! The cute baby Lionchu! Oh look, a friend! Everyone is checking out the new guy (: Sunny tried to run away from the camera! D: His back looks more curved on my camera.... Hmmm.....
  7. So a while back I went to my awesome LFS and asked if they ever sold baby Chu's. They said they usually get them in at 2+ inches so I gave up. Well, I walked in yesterday to find a tank of 4 adorable lionhead babies! I chose this cutie, because it was the least typical fish in the tank (: He also was the cutest. It will be so interesting to watch him grow! He still has his fry colors, with some yellow and orange shiny scales showing through. I also thought, he looked more like a Ranchu. Maybe he is a mix? I will find out when he is bigger (: Here he is! Sorry about the bad lighting. Oregon decided it was going to rain today for the first time I love it
